Originally reviewed: 11/25/12. Went to a friend’s this last holiday weekend and we cracked this one among others. Poured into a mason jar (that’s all we had at the time). Pours a fair honey gold with a big frothy white head on top. Great retention; leaves lots of sticky lace. There are a ton of bubbles rising through this one, feeding the head. The nose is yeasty, tart, earthy, and mildly fruity. Some pineapple noted. The bubbles create a prickly feel that borders on harsh. I know many of this style are over-carbonated in my experience, but I really wish this was tamed down a smidge. Flavors of pineapple, apple, lemon pepper, dirt, spicy yeast. This is flavorful as all get out. There’s a lack of sweetness though, that would help balance it out a bit more. This was a good domestic take on the style. It’s not a style I visit often, but this was good. Thanks, Marco!

Cloudy golden with a thin sticky white head. Lovely grassy and herbal hop aroma mixed with a crisp little saison malt profile. Clean and bright flavor with some nuanced herbal bitterness, clean saison mealtimes, a touch of Belgian funk, a little grassy citrus, and a dryish Belgian estery finish with a whisper more of grassy floral hops. Really unique and complex.

Yeasty herbal vegetable garden aroma. Very malty at first then comes the expected citrus and bitter orange rind. Pleasant and light. Much more targeted for a summer day than winter night but very refreshing and tasty.

Alaranjada, boa formação de espuma e persistência. Aroma de frutas tropicais amarelas, levemente acida e adocicads, mel. Paladar bem distribuído entre a acidez e dulçor. Corpo leve e média/alta carbonatação. Aftertaste lembra a mel, sensação prazerosa carbonatada, final levemente seco e lupulado.

On tap at Gourmet Haus Staudt in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is slight floral, must, coriander, light banana. Taste is citrus rinds, some floral spice and mild sweetness. Might be a tad too much floral / potpourri for me, but a good stateside saison!

Bright golden but a little chunky at the bottom. Rich and complex aroma with lemon, coriander, yeast and sweet malt. It’s just as layered on the tongue. Sweet, dry and a hint of sourness. Love it, send me some!
