12 bottle with a born on date of 3/19/14. Yeah.... everything fading here. Bright gold color with lasting head in the snifter. The aroma is lemons, light clove and weak tones of yeast.

First mouth swish gives me lemons again, caramel malt and yeast. After the sip I get a lingering floral hop note. Weak but lingering. I consumed this very warm, nearly room temperature, and the only strong note is the bitterness. The flavor was all weak and muted. Yep old bottle but got to rate what is in my glass. I’m sure a fresher sample would fair much better.

355ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy medium gold, with a small white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves decent lacing. Lime hops, cinnamon and cloves make up the aroma. Lime hops up front segue nicely into cinnamon and clove Belgian yeast notes in the mid-palate. Lemon and floral hops come into the finish. A nice balance of Belgian yeast and hops flavours in this one.

On tap at The Archive for Armakeggon. Cloudy amber, a bit too sour fruit for my tastes.

12 oz bottle at Bar Volo, served in a stem glass. Pours hazy golden with a small white head that remains and leaves no lace. The nose has notes of citrus and pale malts, along with spice, yeast, earth and subtle flowers. The flavour is mildly sweet and subtly tart with fruit and a moderate citric, spicy hoppiness. The finish is moderate in length with spicy, piney notes. On the palate it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, a nice saison with IPA notes, complex and hoppy. 2014-09-13

Bottle from Brewhouse Brisbane 130914. Fruity and quite refreshing. Full flavoured and not overly boozy.

Cloudy deep gold, surprisingly small fading white foam. Both very yeasty and hoppy nose boasting generous pear/peach/banana fairly tropical esters, rich breadiness and highly floral and citrusy hops. A deeper dig unveils soft medicinal phénols and an eucalyptus tang, especially once it warms up. Dry palate, lean body with a certain crispiness to it thanks to its tight small bubbles. A less refined Taras Boulba, with a similarly mineral and dry profile complemented by a pleasant tart touch. It’s a flavor profile I really dig, but made here quite rougher with the tougher, slightly resinous bitterness.

BTLD 08/23/13, so a year ago, probably past it’s prime but I’m not sure given the base. Nose is sweet and yeasty (Belgian, does have some Orval notes) with citric hops. Pours pale and slightly hazy yellow with a large and soapy off-white head on slow but abundant carbonation. In the mouth it’s dry and cleansing, some alcohol heft, lightly chalky, strong lemony citrus with yeasty coating, minerals, light spiking hop accents. Smooth refreshing medium body, creamy but a little light at times. Floral, lightly peppery, straw with faint spice and herbal/grassy hop character, yeast carries the day in the end. Even without super-fresh hops, a welcome post-lawnmower beer, vivacious; I think I just don’t like the style.
