Stix Oud Bruin

Hazy dark red beer that looks stagnant. Aroma of moderately tart cherries and apples, some vinegar and a touch of funk. Flavors of apples and cherries, some candi sugar that adds a pleasant sweetness, and a mild funkiness. Moderately tart, amazingly drinkable. It is nice to see local breweries try their hand at more interesting offerings.

Dark, hazy brown. Aroma is a slightly spicy cider. taste is not too sour, but very cider-like. Spices and apple. A bit odd.

The first Belgian sour brown/flanders red ale I have ever known to be brewed in Seattle, and this may have been the best beer of this style I have sampled to date. Murky cidery brown amber with a decent head. Intriguing sour apple cidery aroma translates into a mild, but enjoyably sour cider flavor with decent balance of residual sugar. Slightly salty finish. Well done.
