COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India pale ales harness the inherent flavor characteristics of hops to bring forward familiar flavors of pine, resin, spice and citrus. In some cases, those botanicals are so potent, they exactly mirror specific edibles. Such is the case with Centennial hops, which hail from the Great Northwest and come across on the palate like a mouthful of citrus fruit. The sensation is amplified with this, the first beer introduced via the Stochasticity Project, a double IPA brewed with Centennial, Chinook and Magnum hops as well as an immense dosing of fresh grapefruit peel. The result is over-the-top bittersweet grapefuit intensity that is at once refreshing and bracing in its citrusy bitterness.

Bottle. Deep golden body with a frothy white diminishing head. Light aroma, especially for a double ipa, of resin, grapefruit and toasted grain. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery/sticky texture, lively carbonation. Bitterness overwhelms other flavors which are pretty much just resin and grapefruit with a hint of orange peel.

Not sure why all the high ratings for this beer. I thought it lacked in the taste department.....great job on the creativity, but lacking in making it all come together, especially on the grapefruit end!

Such a small aroma out of the bottle, but poured out was a blast of pine and grapefruit! This bright orange liquid is heavy with sediment, light on foam and tastes moderately bitter with serious grapefruit and resin. The flavors are very nice until the liquid starts warming. Not a fan of this when it’s not ice cold. The refreshment aspect falls off a cliff as soon as it gets a touch of warm. I was hoping for grapefruity freshness but am disappointed in that. The body is nice, medium, with an average fizzle and a long lasting bitter that doesn’t ever seem to go away. I actually expected more from Stone on this one.

Very delicious beer, went well with lobster tail. Great value for a great beer. I enjoyed the citrus And dose not have an overbearing hoppy flavor some of the higher priced IPA beers have. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber purchased at the brewery in Escondido ($7.25). Pours a clear orange-amber hue with two fingers of white foam. AROMA of fresh-cut ruby red grapefruit, wet pine forest, salty wind at the beach, sweet-ish tangerine, and more resinous hops. FLAVOR also full of bursting juicy grapefruit juice and grapefruit peel, light pine, with some caramel malts emerging nearer the end. Bitter but not overly so for such the hop monster that it is. Alcohol very well concealed as with all Stone beers. What’s not to like here...the lovely grapefruit elements of American hops amplified with some straight-up grapefruit peel? Well done, Stone. Took it out of the fridge and popped the top. Instant gusher. Poured a hazy sunshine gold with a big foamy head.. Aroma of hops and citrus. Tasted of citrus hops a bit of pine. Caught the grapefruit in the finish which became more dominant as it warmed. Hoppy citrusjuicy bitter finish with a sticky mouth feel. Pretty decent overall. $8 a bomber.
