India pale ales harness the inherent flavor characteristics of hops to bring forward familiar flavors of pine, resin, spice and citrus. In some cases, those botanicals are so potent, they exactly mirror specific edibles. Such is the case with Centennial hops, which hail from the Great Northwest and come across on the palate like a mouthful of citrus fruit. The sensation is amplified with this, the first beer introduced via the Stochasticity Project, a double IPA brewed with Centennial, Chinook and Magnum hops as well as an immense dosing of fresh grapefruit peel. The result is over-the-top bittersweet grapefuit intensity that is at once refreshing and bracing in its citrusy bitterness.

"This one just screams have me for breakfast! Grapefruit candy sweetness and some fairly aggressive bitterness in there as well. They play off each other well. A delicious one dimensional IIPA."

22oz bottle shared and poured into shaker pints. Clear amber body with a 2-finger white head. Patchy lacing and good retention. Very strong grapefruit peel aroma, with citrus juice, caramel, cracker, and herbal undertones. Taste follows the nose: grapefruit juice and peel play sweet and bitter, other citrus peel, caramel malt sweetness, and some hoppy herb bite compliment the intended thrust. Medium body, resinous texture, moderate carbonation, strongly bitter, dry finish.

Poured from the bottle into a La Fin Du Mode stemmed glass. The color is a clear yellow/gold with two fingers of foamy white head and some nice lacing left on the glass. The smell is filled with grapefruit aroma and has a real juicy fruit flavor. The hops seem to be right down the center and pops several times. There is a nice lemongrass aroma that makes the mouth water for a taste. The taste of this beer is giving the grapefruit flavor that was promised by the name. The bitterness hangs over this beer like a canopy with some touches of earthy grass flavor mixed in a grainy center. The bitterness comes back towards the end to slow down things like a speed bump. The feel of this beer is medium bodied with a nice drinkable, refreshing feel. A great I PA that brings the flavor and is quite enjoyable.

Pours a nice golden color with a foamy white head. Huge aroma of orange, lemon, grapefruit, melon, and pine, Also a bit of hay. Huge notes of grapefruit in the taste. Lots of citrus and small amount of pine. Very bitter, nice hop selection leaves your mouth nice and bitter. Slight maltiness forms the backbone of this beer. Really nice mouth feel. Very refreshing. Awesome IPA.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with firm white head. Nose is grapefruit as you'd expect, citrus and a honey sweetness. Taste is really bitter! Grapefruit up front and citrus. Bitterness lingers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Serving: 22 oz. bottle. Slightly hazy dark gold pour with a very small white head. Huge citrus nose with lots of grapefruit. West coast bitter and dry on the tongue. Plenty of grapefruit to go around with a long finish. Nice twist on things for Stone, but truly Stone aggressive with the hops.

The Grapefruit Slam IPA pours a mostly clear light orange with a thick frothy ivory head that lasts good while. The aroma is grapefruit, pine with a bit of caramel and bread. The flavor is predominantly grapefruit and pine but caramel and bread is also noticeable. Overall this is a pretty solid beer.
