COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India pale ales harness the inherent flavor characteristics of hops to bring forward familiar flavors of pine, resin, spice and citrus. In some cases, those botanicals are so potent, they exactly mirror specific edibles. Such is the case with Centennial hops, which hail from the Great Northwest and come across on the palate like a mouthful of citrus fruit. The sensation is amplified with this, the first beer introduced via the Stochasticity Project, a double IPA brewed with Centennial, Chinook and Magnum hops as well as an immense dosing of fresh grapefruit peel. The result is over-the-top bittersweet grapefuit intensity that is at once refreshing and bracing in its citrusy bitterness.

A golden IPA with a thin white head. In aroma, a fragrant IPA with biscuit malt with floral and resinous, light catnip and funk, very nice. In mouth, a nice balanced IPA with biscuit malt, citrus and floral hops, grapefruit pulp, very nice. Bottle at OttBottleShare July 2014.

Hazy gold with a fleeting white head. Fresh citrus hops and citrus fruit nose. Tastes like an IPA with a half shot of grapefruit juice added to it. Bitter and crisp. Not a big syrupy Imperial IPA mess.

Big pine aroma, some grapefruit. A bit like other Stone dipas but with a more hop bite. Excellent

Iím a big fan of grapefruity IPAs, so this one didnít disappoint. Favors bitter fruitiness to the sweet character youíd expect.

Murky orange pour with a white head that is huge initially but recedes quickly. Aroma is citrus and malty sweetness. Thick, oily body with lots of hop resins. Definitely a nice grapefruit character. Lots of citrusy hop flavor but not really bitter at all. Sweet finish

Super rich copper and orange coloured body with a bright glow and a thin, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of yes, grapefruit, rich malt, earth, alcohol, apricots and a rather perfumey and floral hop note. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich bitterness definitely derived from the grapefruit instead of the hops, but a decent malt backbone and a strong yet regulated earthy flavour, but the bitterness is strong and some hops show through, but this is all about grapefruit. Aftertaste is quite pungent and is bitterness and alcohol - not much left in between and no real complexity. Overall, just like the name of the beer implies - grapefruit, hops and a pungent and powerful beer, thatís it on the label and thatís it in the bottle. Good, but nothing to rave about or wish for seconds of. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom), DC on 19-February-2014 for US$9.99 sampled at home in Washington on 12-June-2014.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden amber with three fingers of loose frothy white head diminishing gradually to a thin skim and spotty lacing. Nose is strongly citrus, grapefruit and piney hops, slight green apple and faint caramel malt. Taste is intensely bitter, huge IBUís - gotta be, what, a hundred plus? - with a distinct grapefruit peel astringency and yet a subtle malt sweetness. Medium body, with mild carbonation and a dry, bitter finish. Helluva beer. Hops first, and the grapefruit really supports without overwhelming, with just enough malt to provide balance - my kind of beer. Some minor aesthetic quibbles regarding carbonation aside, thereís not much Iíd change.

Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Clear and coppery. Carbonation floats up into the off white one finger head. Grapefruit is in the aroma and it is not all that big of one. First sip is grapefruit and my tongue immediately began to numb. That bitterness fades somewhat and caramel manages to peek its head out. Somewhere under all that a little tropical fruit can be tasted and the feel is resin. The finish is a little more gentle and finally lets the malts breath. Grapefruit runs amok here. "Slam" is appropriate.

The citrus aroma comes out very strong. It has a cloudy gold color. It has a strongly bitter taste. Not really my type of beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It poured an amber color with a white head. The aroma was medium sweet, grapefruit and light mint. The taste was medium sweet, grapefruit and some lemon peel. It had a medium body, resin and carbonation.
