India pale ales harness the inherent flavor characteristics of hops to bring forward familiar flavors of pine, resin, spice and citrus. In some cases, those botanicals are so potent, they exactly mirror specific edibles. Such is the case with Centennial hops, which hail from the Great Northwest and come across on the palate like a mouthful of citrus fruit. The sensation is amplified with this, the first beer introduced via the Stochasticity Project, a double IPA brewed with Centennial, Chinook and Magnum hops as well as an immense dosing of fresh grapefruit peel. The result is over-the-top bittersweet grapefuit intensity that is at once refreshing and bracing in its citrusy bitterness.

Tap at world of beer. The look is golden bright colored, whitish head, and clear. The smell is super grapefruit, hops, more fruit, some cleaning solution, fresh and bright, and citrus. The taste is bitterness, hops, grass, grapefruits, and good.

Sampled at GABF - loved, loved this offering. Despite the line at Stone, I had multiple. Big huge fresh grapefruit nose with some dank. Flavor was sweet candy orange, complemented by the grapefruit zest. Really wonderful and a great addition to an already really good beer.

Sampled at GABF 2013. Pours a gold with some foamy, white head. Nose is bright citrus, grapefruit, pulpy, floral. Flavor is all tangerine and candy. Bitter, fresh, pulpy juice. Full, bitter finish. Interesting.

On draft at Freshcraft in Denver during GABF. Ordered it offhandedly and did not expect to be so impressed. So many of these IPA treatments today taste worse than the core IPA because the added flavors are too dominant and obvious and either mess up the balance or outright contradict the flavors of the original brew. This is not that beer. This takes everything wonderful about ruination and deftly adds to and complements it. Using grapefruit zest instead of juice was an inspired idea, as it has such a single, precise flavor that it doesn't mess with the rest of the beer. Instead, it just adds a strong grapefruit bitterness that underwrites everything else. Great stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Multiple pours at GABF. Easily one of my favorite beers this year and the guys at Stone know how to give you a good pour. Appearance is clear golden orange with a big frothy white head and great lacing. The smell is huge grapefruit juice, candied oranges, cedar, a touch of grass, and clean malt - really just amazing grapefruit juice. Taste is again big juicy grapefruit, oranges, candied fruits, lime, citrus notes, and biscuit with a huge bitter finish. Sticky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Literally tastes like fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Awesome!

Clear golden with a thin white cap head. Nose has a ton of bittersweet grapefruit zest with a dank grassy bitterness. Flavor is just as dank but with a zesty sweetness of grapefruit zest fruitiness. Very flavorful and fruity but also hoppy dank and bitter. Wonderful.

On tap at Freshcraft in Denver during GABF. Beautiful golden body with ivory head. Nose is a very, very punchy grapefruit: like zesting the rind of a fresh grapefruit. THAT strong. Taste starts out with loud grapefruit, mellows a bit into a citrus sweetness, and finishes bitter, salty. EXCELLENT IPA.

On tap @ GABF. Golden pour with a white head. Really nice grapefruit nose. Pine, candied orange, some caramel, and a very dank, resinous hop character. Flavor is somewhat sweet with some caramel malt. Tons of bitter pine, big grapefruit zest, and some candied orange peel.
