COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India pale ales harness the inherent flavor characteristics of hops to bring forward familiar flavors of pine, resin, spice and citrus. In some cases, those botanicals are so potent, they exactly mirror specific edibles. Such is the case with Centennial hops, which hail from the Great Northwest and come across on the palate like a mouthful of citrus fruit. The sensation is amplified with this, the first beer introduced via the Stochasticity Project, a double IPA brewed with Centennial, Chinook and Magnum hops as well as an immense dosing of fresh grapefruit peel. The result is over-the-top bittersweet grapefuit intensity that is at once refreshing and bracing in its citrusy bitterness.

Pours clear, vibrant, orange-golden color with a white head. As much tangerine as there is grapefruit in the bouquet. Smooth, full mouthfeel. Gigantic tangerine. So much so, I’m surprised stone would call this a grapefruit slam. There is more grapefruit in the bouquet than in the flavor. Fun beer.

Grapefruit all day on the nose coupled with a fantastic tropical hop flavor. Deep amber with a low diminishing head.

Breakfast anyone? Grapefruit is the predominant theme here. The aroma is citrus hops with an extra zing. Copper color that was lighter than expected with a white head. Medium weight palate with a good amount of carbonation and somewhat dry finish. Not as strong on the IBU’s as the original Ruination but still pronounced. The grapefruit juice flavor kicks in at the end but doesn’t linger. Still somewhat of a palate killer but great nonetheless.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2013 Draft. WOB. Pale, light golden. Fruity pebbles. Peaches, cream sickle. Tangerine rind, intensely bitter. Artificial flavoring. Way too bitter. LC Tangerine meets Lagunitas Lil Sumpin. Not for me.

At Gainesville HOB. Golden pour with creamy white head and lots of lacing. Smells like Ruination with some extra fruit sweetness. Flavor is big hoppy bitter as with regular Ruination, but lots of extra puckering grapefruit juice and acidity. Slick mouthfeel. Good stuff.

Pint at WOB Easton on 8/22/13. Clear amber pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, orange, lemon, pine and malt. Big grapefruit juice flavor with some maltiness and orange accents before a piney hop finish. Very tasty.
