1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Yellow gold, bright, watery and almost still with no head. Not exactly screaming at me right now. Weedy and grassy nose with a hint of salty brine and cardboard. Hmm.... Gassy, carbonic, watery thin and lagered of all life. Really close to soda water. It could be the first beer Iíd admit a lemon wedge would actually enhance. Very little here at all. Keg - Edisonís, Mona Vale. Poured a clear, lively golden yellow with a small, slowly fading white head. Aromas of grain, corn, grass and lemony hops . Light to medium body, medium to full carbonation, firm mouthfeel and a short, soft intensity bitterness in the finish. Crisp and refreshing with some malt sweetness to balance.

OLD NOTES JAN 17, 2004
Has a corny malt aroma. A few hop notes, as well as a few light sweet caramel malty kind of flavours came through. Nothing special, but not bad for your average lager. Easy and decent price.

Not a bad beer but nothing spectacular. Good with a juicy hamburger or pizza.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
I was expecting something pretty ordinary, but got something pretty decent. A hearty pour gave me a beer with an orange body and a medium sized head that didnít last or lace much. An initial aroma of lychees (!) was followed by some pineapple and caramel malt. The flavour is quite inert however, with not much bitterness and a bit of sweetness smoothing it out. A medium body, with a good carbonation level. A pleasant surprise, especially considering itís 10 months past itís best by date!

Bottle-Poured a nice thick white head which left some minimal head and lacing. Nice golden colour with a malty hay aroma. Initial taste was sweet & fizzy on the palate but a bit dry in finish I had tasted this beer a couple of years ago and was not impressed but having revisited it today i have changed my opinion. Not a bad effort certainly a different taste to some other aussie lagers. Would have again.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle: Sigh..... Sometimes things can be so predictable.
Here we go then: Pale gold with a thick white head - looks good, thereís no doubt about that. Add to this the initial aroma of freshly mown grass that greets me as the cap is popped and things are beginning to look good. Unfortunately the lawn mower had been trimming the verge above a mid-sized cliff. Let us just say that things go decidedly down hill - the aroma fades to a mettalic passionfruit and pineapple salad. OK, nothing particularly wrong so far, but as it warmed this aroma profile morphed into an unmistakable íurine-from-a-dehydrated-personí smell. Urghh!
Right, so forget the aroma letís see what this tastes like (hopes are dim now): Crisp, cool lemony hops notes lift in the beginning (so far so good). Some very faint malt notes too (not much... did they actually use any?). Crumpff!! We hit the valley floor - any pleasantness in the flavour spectrum gives way to a spicy, rough bitterness with (again) that overbearing mettalic presence.
Ah, the vicissitudes of Pale Lager. Where would we be without them.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pale golden, clear, medium head. Above average for the Aussie premium lager market, but still pretty boring. Is it worth paying the extra over, say, VB or Castlemaine XXXX Gold? It sepends on how discriminating you are, but Iím not sure that itís a big enough difference. Iíd probably just spend the extra and buy a solid european lager.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Botled. Golden colour, clear, brief head. Grassy aroma with a whiff of grapefruity hops. Sweet and firmly malty with clean mouthfeel and a fair amount of hops, resulting in an orangey flavour and a pleasantly bitter finish. Nothing spectacular, but a solid, well made lager.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Above-average Aussie "premium" lager - but the average is depressingly poor. Straw colour, moderate head. Plenty of malt in the aroma. Fruity taste - apples probably - crisp and refreshing. Some bitterness but no real finish, unfortunately. (Bottle)
