COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A deliciously creamy stout in the Irish tradition. This deep, coffee-colored beer has the aroma and flavor of chocolate, roasted oats and coffee with a rich tan head. Specially brewed for Trader Joe’s.

Formerly brewed by Goose Island, late 2010/early 2011 saw this beer’s production move to Gordon Biersch.

3rd June 2016, 12oz bottle into a Corsendonk badged stemmed tulip. Looked fine, black with a lasting tanned head. Over roasted oats and malts give the aroma and taste some dark chocolate and ground coffee flavours. Nothing too exciting but nothing wrong with it either.

Drank from the bottle. Smell is bitter oatmeal, malt, and leathery. Taste follows. A decently balanced, not too sweet or pungent beer. Great for the price

Trader Joe’s brand beer. It’s an Oatmeal Stout with an label that suggests an old Irish tradition.

12 ounce bottle from TJs. Pours a dark brown color with a small white head. A nice roast and dark fruit nose. The flavor is pretty good; a big metallic strong roast, cocoa, some dark grainy oats. Dark fruit flavored tobacco.

Bottle. Pours dark brown color with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, some coffee and grain. Taste of Roasted malt, dark chocolate, with oat and just a bit of coffee. Mild bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Full body, thick and creamy with a subtle richness. Enjoyable beer.

From 12oz bottle, from Trader Joe’s, about $1.17 for single bottle, around $6-7 for 6-pack

Aroma: sweetness, not coffee but maybe cream

Appearance: black, somewhat clear, nice tan colored head

Taste: Medium sweet, light bitter

Palate: full body, creamy texture, average carbonation, bitter dry finish

Overall: More chocolate than coffee. Very sweet. Not a bad Oatmeal Stout. Nice body and head. Roasty and malty with some good bits of chocolate in there. Very silky and rich in flavor. Would have liked a little more aroma, but it’s a fine stout. Pretty solid Oatmeal Stout. Good value beer.
