Commercial Description:
A new Vertical Epic will be released every year, with the goal being to collect them all and have a Vertical Epic tasting once the final Epic is released on 12/12/12. Each new Stone Vertical Epic Ale will be release one YEAR, one MONTH and one DAY apart. Vertical Epic 02/02/02 was not brewed "to style". Instead, we tried to create something new. It's triple-ish in nature, with wit character, coriander and orange peel, and has way more hops than either a Belgian triple or a Wit would. Belgian yeast was used. Belgian Strong Ale is the closest category that fits -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing CEO. In addition, we are pleased to provide the homebrewing recipe: http://stonebrew.com/timeline/020202

Aged, this thing is gonna be a monster. I have this habit of sniffing the mist on the top of the beer immediately after opening, and when I did this with this brew I got incredible malt depth, down to my spine. The hops are perfect, not too heaping. The palate is exactly right; much much stronger and up to the task of conveying the flavorful essence of this beer than the Allagash White, which is in it’s own right a very good brew. This hits it, though. The aroma is mediciney, bandagey to the nth degree. The taste bitter, earthy, moderately spicy (pine, anise). Great! I wanted a bit more maltiness in the aroma, I think.

Hazy orange colour with a white head. Fruity and alcohol sweet aroma with hoppy floral and yeasty notes. Hoppy, light dry and fruity flavor with an yeasty acidic note. Thanx to sk8viking for sharing this special one.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of sk8viking. Pours a hazy golden with a very lively and bubbly off-white head. Aroma of yeast and overripe fruit with a somewhat oxidized sherry touch. Medium body with sweet fruit and sherry notes and a little phenol. Very bubbly carbonation. Quite some bitterness in the finish. 260708

Bottle, thanks to kramer17801. A golden beer with a big white head. I can smell that itīs old, but there is much more in there, caramel, coriander, fruit, alcohol and hops, the taste is fine some sweetness and acid notes, but also caramel, coriander, fruits and alcohol. Medium body with a light alcoholic finish.

The colour is golden - kind of like a blond. The aroma is not at all like a blond, it is more like a barley wine or dark belgien beer. You can smell prunes, alcohol and yeast. The flavor is similar, but it also adds another dimension with the acidly touch, which suits very well. Great beer - thanks to sk8viking!

Bottled. An unclear golden beer with sediment floating around under a thin white head. The aroma is very sweet with strong notes of fruit - especially peaches and oranges as well as a note of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with dusty notes of hops and strong notes of fruit - especially peaches. The alcohol burns the tongue. Huge thanks Sk8viking for sharing this rare beer.
