Pours a murky copper color with minimal foam. Smells very oxidized and slightly metallic. A bit of sweet caramel and brown sugar malt notes, maybe a hint of overripe fruit, too. Not all that appealing, though. The flavor has a definite note of pennies to it. Still sweet and malty, but definitely some cardboard oxidation and a generic, muddled fruit flavor. Medium bodied with low carbonation.

This one poured a murky lighter brown color with basically no head at all. Aroma was lots of residual sugars, some dark fruits and cardboard. Flavor was a good bit oxidized, medium cardboard, sweet caramel malt and some dates and prunes. Definitely way past its prime but still not qute as bad as i was expecting.

Fall 2011 Ratebeer gathering. Not good at this age but it held up a bit better than it could have I guess. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark chestnut color with a small tan head. The aroma was caramel, molasses, cherry and had a metallic undertone. The flavor was tangy caramel, nut, metal and faint cocoa. The finish was long with caramel, nut and vanilla. Fairly full bodied. I wish I could have tried one back when it was fresh.

Clear brown-red, beige quick cover. Aroma is cocoa, oxidation, caramel, candy. Taste is similar, lightly cardboardy, cocoa, eh.

22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy golden amber with a small beige head. Aroma of candied sugar, coriander, dry white wine, and some floral notes. Flavour of dry white wine, some candied sugar, floral notes, toffee and light coriander. Certainly has held up well after 8 years. Very nice.

This poured a dark copper to hazy brown color. The aroma contains some caramel, chocolate, molasses, and toffee. The flavor is rather sweet with more chocolate, caramel, and toffee. It tastes like a Heath Bar! Which is a good thing. Overall you can tell it’s a bit on the old side but it still tastes good to me!

Big thanks to brentfeesh for bringing this to the tasting. Copper, no head. Smells a little bit oxidized, but not too bad. Smells like caramel, maybe some bourbon, and a herbal note. Flavor is nicely sweet apple, caramel, and more herbs. Maybe a little bit of pear and honey as it warms.

Sample at a tasting at Suttree’s. Pours hazy rusty brown with some offwhite head. The aroma is mild raisin, malt, fruity notes, and a slight barrel hint. The flavor is a spicy malt taste with some white raisin, some oxidized sweetness, and some breadiness.

Sehr fruchtiger, interessanter und etwas überraschender Antrunk. Für 9% ist es nicht gerade sehr stark, die Malzigkeit ist stark, aber nicht übermäßig stark ausgeprägt. Recht eigender Nachgeschmack mit sich deutlich zeigender Karamellnote.

22oz Bottle First bottle to kick off our 10-10-10 tasting. With a huge thanks to Toby and Sam for getting this. Pours out brown topped with a small tan head. Aroma was of roast, pit fruit sweetness, caramel, wood, and bread. Taste was much of the same along with a nice spice, and light bitterness at the end.
