An interesting conglomeration of things going on. Deep brown. White head. Some lacing. Spice notes in the nose with a small undercurrent of floral from the hops. Flavor was malty and sweet in the beginning but at the end were the very recognizable Stone hops. Will be interesting to see how this ages.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
From notes. Tasted on 12/12/12 from a capped 22oz bottle with Curtis, and the Nashville crew. Pours hazy amber with an average beige head that leaves thin, bubbly lace. The nose is pretty far gone, very oxidized, with a bit of a yeasty aroma. The flavor has some spice on the back, but is really just as oxidized as the nose. The body is medium with average carbonation and long malty oxidized finish.

Opened a bottle on 1/1/2015. Still good carbonation in the pour. Cotton candy and spice aroma. Lots of oxidation but flavors are still decent. Not great but decent.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft on 12/12/12. This one has lots of coffee grounds, and a dry, chalky texture that isn’t very pleasant.

Bottle from BottleWorks. Rating from notes from 11/12/2010 tasting where I shred with Ratman and Doodler (I never entered rating) and bottle today 3/3/14. 11/12/2010 bottle Nose is corriander, toasted bread, and prunes. Clear brown with a medium beige head. Flavor is spicy, fruity, and a little of the toasted bread. Really nice and smooth with no oxidation from a 7 1/2 year old beer.

Celebrating the 10 year Vertical Epic Series
P: Two-tone hazy brown and tan with translucent top and bottom with sediment floating. Creamy head that leaves delicate spider webs around the glass.
S: Molasses, candied plums, chocolate, bread, bananas, clove, coriander, toffee, wheat and oxidation on the rather boozy aroma.
T/M: Super malty, molasses, big time toffee, fruity, buttery herbs, sweetness backed by wood, white pepper, candy sweetness followed by aged cherries. Silky body that is smooth and finishes dry with surprisingly good level of carbonation.
O: Totally surprised by how well this aged. A beer that is 10 years old and shows a little oxidation but nothing like I expected. Stone has done a fantastic job of brewing a beer that will last. Great beer that come across more as a dubbel.
