3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 oz bottle shared by Matt. Pours a murky dark amber orange pour, vicious glow with a good healthy haze, a decent bright white frothy head that laces ok. Aromas are citrusy, oxidzed malts, lemons and oranges, touches of bread dough, spice, vibrant oranges really seem to dominate. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied offering a decent bitterness, dry florals and citrus, oranges, spice, bread dough, pale malts, and a touch of spice. Really lost much of itís base beer with age. Finish is lingering malts, bread, some toast, vibrant citrusy orange, some lemons, oxidized malts, cardboard, touch of suntan lotion. Ok, but itís age shows. Give it the benefit of the doubt here.

A little boozy. Lacks any unique character to get excited about. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

22 oz. bottle via trade several years ago - I drank this with SuperDave in April 2011. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Surprisingly, there is some hops in the aroma along with the esters and a touch of oxidation. Flavor is lightly sweetened toasted malt, esters, light phenols, spice, and a touch of hops. Finish is a little dry. Medium body. I like this better than some of the recent VE releases.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Blind tasting at Yespr, 6 years old
Golden color; creamy head. Caramel aroma with light phenol and honey. Caramel flavor, ordinary body strength; a bit oxidised. Strong bitterness, but also warming alcohol. The final gets drier and a bit astringent. There are some hop qualities, but also some strange phenol. Nothing impressive.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap into a taster...Medium tan beer with a very low carbonation level, not much head, no lacing...A malty aroma of bread, pineapple, honey and a touch of hops. Sounds like it would be really enticing but its not strong or defined enough...The taste is super light, misses most of the aroma, light wheat, floral and a little honey.
Maybe its past its prime, maybe its just not great. Either way 6 years later donít waste much to get it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Small Bar Logan Square for the Chicago Takeover. Gold-orange color with a small white head. Very fruity aroma with some light oxidized character and a little lime. Round and fruity flavor. Definitely tastes aged at this point, but not very oxidized. Light malt character and no hop character. Medium bodied and almost flat. This is definitely rounding the corner at this point, but itís not bad. I donít have hope for anything not cold-stored though.

22oz Bottle at our 10-10-10 tasting. With a huge thanks to ditmier for sharing this. Pours out a copper/golden topped with a small head. Aroma was of spice, rich malts, light hops, and sweetness. Taste was more of the aroma with the spice and Belgian yeast driving the bus.

From a bottle poured an amber color with a small amount of head. Strong sweet malty flavor with a lingering sour finish.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2010 Enjoyed at Smallbar in Chicago, IL one day after finishing the Chicago Marathon. I feel like I stumbled upon One-Eyed Willieís treasure chest from the Goonies, its like drinking in a time machine. Aroma like candy, possibly Belgian candi in there mixed with a stong barley wine odor. Appearance like gold with a thin head. Taste of caramel, slightly sweet, very smooth, tastes like it was aged in oak barrels. Great malt flavor, a hint of fruit in the back as well. Freaking incredible.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: The pour is a burnt orange color with some hints of gold and a fingerís worth of white head.
S: The nose is quite sweet and surprisingly citrus heavy. A few more sniffs give off some vanilla, honey, and yeast esters (namely bananas).
T: A similar story on the palate. Sweet vanilla, orange honey, and banana along with some spicy esters and caramel malt. A touch of tropical fruit, too.
M: The body is on the light end of medium with a carbonation that seems to be a bit low too.
D: The low carbonation does not do much to quell the intense sweetness of this beer. Good flavors, but like drinking a sweet mead at times.
