COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A new Vertical Epic will be released every year, with the goal being to collect them all and have a Vertical Epic tasting once the final Epic is released on 12/12/12. Each new Stone Vertical Epic Ale will be release one YEAR, one MONTH and one DAY apart. This time around we used some unmalted wheat, just the right touch of Kaffir Lime Leaf, and a really cool Belgian yeast. The result is a bit like a strong Biere de Garde / Saison-esque influenced beer coupled with some aromatic Bavarian Hefeweizen style phenolic banana esters, and a backnote hint of lime from the lime leaf.

Bottle. Poured a dark amber with a medium white head. Good complex aroma of malt and citrus. Medium body. Very good flavor of malt and citrus with a long balanced finish. As good or better then 2005.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2010 Rerate: Bottled. Tasted as blind # 8 @ yesprs. Orange coloured. Full of floaties. Dense off white head. Aroma of citrus, herbs, flowers and perfume. Flavour is perfumed, sweet, flowery, herbal and light grapy. Medium to full bodied. Grapy herbal bitterness in the end. Nice. Lagering has done this beer good. Bottled 17.11.04: Golden coloured. Off white head. Light spiced sweet and malty aroma. Fruity, light citric, light hopped and malty flavour. Is a little bland I think. Ends with some alcahol burnt on the palate and lips and is medium bitter. 7-3-8-3-14

Lightly hazy golden ale with a no head. Tangerine spicey malt with honey notes in aroma. Very restrained in mouth, but classy, with notes of ginger, coriander, and honey. Upon reading the bottle, I note the limeleaves in mouth. Nice lingering sustained hops. Very good. (Spring 2005)

Bomber poured a clear amber with a small lingering off white head. Aromas of lime, wheat, yeast, spice and a hint of vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a sharp finish. Flavors of light oxidation, lime, light carmel and light spice with a smooth lingering citric finish.

Bottle from moejuck. Pours copper with champaigne-like bubbles, a tall frothy off-white head that becomes rocky and has good retention, lined lacing. Aroma is malt (meal, cardboard, biscuit), yeast (grass), fruit (banana, apple, pear, peach) and perfumey flowers. Moderately bitter and heavy acidity, earthy and dirty malt and yeast, flowers and alcohol with a floral hop finish. Medium bodied, dry and fizzy-spicy palate.

hopscotch (9214) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 19, 2004
Crystal clear, light golden ale with a very small, creamy, white head. Spicy aroma with notes of lemon, banana, bubble gum, coriander and nutmeg. The flavor is very decently balanced despite the incredibly rich malt. Tangy and sweet. Full-bodied with a very oily mouthfeel and pillow-soft carbonation. Dry, spicy finish. I get no lime out of this beer in any way, shape or form. I hate lime anyway.

Pours an amber color with a hardly any head. Aroma of raisins, bread, and honey. Taste is bread, oxidation, banana and wet basement wood. This one suffered a bit from time.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2005 Poured a medium golden-yellow color with a smaller white head. Aromas and tastes of spices and fruits (bananas). Some yeast as well.
Additional notes from re-tasting done on 6/31. Poured clear and see through. Definitely picked up the lime aroma this time around. Scored the same.

Had in March 2009, days short of the five-year mark of the bottle. First impression: It can’t be a hefe, but it strongly smells and tastes like a hefe, with orange and a unique kick-in of lime taste. Marvelous one-of-a-kind. Not lasting head, lighter colour.Above average mouthfeel.
