4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sloth (2241) - Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA - AUG 7, 2005Medium sized light brown cap, large bubbled, good retention with minimal lacing thats spotty. Color is dark brown with a red glow. Good clarity, an attractive brew. Nose of dark fruits, plummy, raisiny with hints of clay, peppery spiceyness and a bit of vanilla. Body is med/full, smooth textured. Dry malt flavors, lightly earthy, dusty. Ripe fruits coming through, cocoa and a light roastiness, bananna and alcohol flavors showing as it warms up. Dry, fruity finish. A keeper that will be interesting to age. Once again, Thanks to SDbruboy for a couple bombers of this fine elixer!! Thanks Cliff!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 deyholla (4787) - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA - MAR 9, 2013
Bottle shared by Tim, thanks! Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has musty grain and a bit of hay and a touch of menthol. Flavor starts with sweet musty grains and has a bit of menthol in the finish.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 neuromatt (858) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 23, 2013
22 oz bottle, bought online and tasted alongside vintages from 2003-2006 at a tasting with Chris, Dan and Greg. Served in a branded glass. Pours clear reddish mahogany with a small tan head that fades quickly, leaving behind a slight amount of lace. On the nose, there are notes of molasses, toasty malts, chocolate, anise, spice, fruit and clove. The flavour starts out medium sweet and becomes slightly bitter towards the end. There are notes of chocolate, roasted malts, anise and herbs. The finish is long and slightly bitter, with a slight herbal note. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth, syrupy texture and soft fizzy carbonation. Overall, this is a nice chocolatey, spicy Belgian style ale. It has aged relatively well, but I wonder if the body is thinner than it once was. 2012-08-04
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - FEB 17, 2013
22 oz. bottle served in a CCB snifter.
A: Pours a dark plum color with some ruby highlights around the edges. An offwhite head forms on the pour and recedes to a thin ring. Some splotchy lace is left down the glass.
S: Grainy malt bills, some light rice cake with some wet paper. This one did not age all that well.
T: More of the same. A ton of cardboard, rice cake, and a little cocoa. Sweet cereal malts. The oxidation has really taken this one over.
M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation level. Wet paper finish.
O: All the bottles had been stored the same so I don’t know this was a product of a poorly sealed cap, or the beer wasn’t strong enough from the onset to hold onto an semblance of the original flavor profile.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 dbarnold (1073) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - FEB 7, 2013
Liked this one...had a little more kick than 03 and 04, in a good way, still very smooth and sweet, but a little more complex. A good kick, up front, a little more acidic, and a lot of sweet fruit. Good stuff, should be drank soon though.
