BigBastard (669), L.A., California, USA Jun 17, 2006 Updated: Jun 28, 2006 This was good, but I think it will get better with some age. Roasted malt, candi sugar, spices and fruit re all in the flavor. Had the Stone hop finish makes it a little odd after the sweet! But it’s a good beer, and I look forward to aging some.
Beerlando (1563), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 21, 2008 Bottle, consumed in October 2008. Pours an extremely dark Coca-Cola brown color with a frothy, well-retained, beige colored head. Minimal, spotty lacing mostly rejoins the glass. Aromas shows a malt base of cola, molasses, and chocolate malts, with a good deal of fruity fig. Candied hazelnuts, nutmeg, and faded, earthy hops lend warm, spicy depth, while a dash of lactose offers a creaminess to the nose. Flavors are similar, scorched caramel, figs, and cocoa showing up front, with cream, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove adding spice. Vanilla comes through at the mid-point, transitioning into an aged hop finish. Medium-full on the palate and smooth, the relatively light carbonation makes for a silky feel, with a slightly alcoholic burn on the finish. This is a very solid brew at this point, but I honestly cannot see it getting any better, let alone lasting until 2012. FROTHINGSLOSH (1612), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 16, 2008 Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized dark tan head. The aroma was sweet and spicy with notes of licorice and fruits. The alcohol showed through somewhat prominently on the nose. The flavor was dark malts, molasses, ripe fruits, dry chocolate and a touch of wood and smoke. The finish was medium length and was dry with a touch of licorice. Nice. kiefdog (731), Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 14, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Travis from Dunedin Brewing. Pours a dark brown color with thin tan head. Aroma is malty and sweet with notes of molasses, caramel, maybe some toffee and ripe dark fruit. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of maple syrup, some vanilla, honey. Generally medium body with a sweet and malty finish. markwise (450), Just North of Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 3, 2008 Thanks to Travis from Dunedin Brewing. Aroma is malt, maple, vanilla, and butter. Flavor is buttery maple with some bitter disguised well. I liked it. fishingnet (1001), Brandon, Florida, USA Nov 30, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Travis from Dunedin Brewing. Pours a clear amber brown with a one finger offwhite head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of spicy yeast, caramel, and light fruit. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and a spicy yeasty finish. Very good.
