3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Yeahitsnolan (51) - Bakersfield, California, USA - AUG 14, 2006Poured nice and dark into a glass. A lot of bubble action that kept up till i finished drinking my share. The head was thin but did not vanish after a few mintues. The aroma had a nice complex of a sweetness and nice roasted malts. The taste was a mix of a fruity/hoppy/spicy taste. It was very smooth, while it is low on my favorite types of beers, this one pulled through and kicked ass.

Sampled at TWCP Beer Fest 2013. It poured a black color with a beige head. The aroma was a bit of roast, very sweet and nutty. The taste was some porter-like elements, spices, caramel, dry yeast, quite sweet but not cloying. A nice brew.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 gorditoabd (557) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 28, 2013
Bomber, purchased from Keg N Bottle (if I recall) near SDSU. Pours muddy dark brown with 2-3 fingers of nice foamy head that dissipates ever so slowly and laces decently. On the pour, and even through the foam, anise charges out with its usual strength. There are also notes of alcohol, butterscotch, and soy sauce. Taste is initially bittersweet, starting medium, then turning heavy, like a well-sweetened turkish or arabic coffee (no cream, of course). Is there a slightly sour note at the finish, perhaps contributed by the yeast? Maybe. My tongue thinks there is, so that’s what I’m writing here. For me it’s a medium bodied beer, with a oily-to-creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation and a long, bitter-to-funky finish. Really nice stuff. Subtle and strong at the same time, which I find really impressive. So glad I was able to stumble upon it.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 portableparty (1596) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAR 23, 2013
Bottle from Tournament Liquor Blaine (I guess Stone delivered a few of these with 12.12.12. a few months back). Pours brown mahogany with a somewhat creamy sudsy off white head that fades and leaves a spotty film and sudsy collar. Aroma is awesome chocolate roasted malt and sugary fig and light dark fruit scents, but the chocolate is strong and surprising! Taste is light raisins chocolate and figs with some yeast and malt with a nice coffee flavor in the finish. Palate is medium and still holds good carbonation and finishes dry. Wow, this is really nice! And the only year that offered a different style other than Belgian Strong Ale!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mcberko (4054) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 21, 2013
22 oz. bottle, sent from St. Fun (thanks a lot, Josh), pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, toffee and toasted nuts Flavour brings out similar notes of caramel malts, dark fruits and toasted nuts. Medium-bodied with a little bit thinner a body due to age most likely. Good stuff, but a little past its prime.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 camborne (293) - Hopkins, Minnesota, USA - MAR 15, 2013
Toasted malt nose. Kinda muted at first and opened up nicely. This one is six Years old so has mellowed quite a bit. Nice toasted malt and funky caramel flavors. Finish is short and smooth.

Bottle shared by Tim, thanks! Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has a bit of soy sauce with dark musty grains. Flavor has dark grain and musty roasted malt with a hint of soy sauce.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - FEB 17, 2013
22 oz. bottle served in a CCB snifter.
A: Pours a dark brown color with a light brown head forming on the pour. Some splotches of lace are left behind.
S: Boozy, some sweet malts and fruity notes as well. An odd minty note on the finish, reminiscent of toothpaste.
T: Brandy soaked plum, some anise and a ton of booze. Light roast with herbal mint qualities on the finish. Not as noticeable as the nose.
M: Medium bodied with a medium low carbonation level. Herbal and roasty finish.
O: The odd minty and toothpaste like flavors on the finish detracted from an overall decent beer.
