Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, bright copper color with a large off-white head. The aroma is sweet with some tropical fruits, yeast and a blend of spices. The flavor is sweet, fruity, and lightly spicy with additional notes of light bubblegum, yeast, citrus, and ginger that lasts through the finish. There is no sign of alcohol. Medium-light body, clean and refreshing. The flavors are pretty well balanced overall.

22oz bomber via trade with cbkschubert. thanks, craig! pours a bright, golden orange with a thin, whispy white head and a bright ring of lace. aroma is is very nice with sweet, candied fruit notes of grapefruit and orange blended with spice notes of ginger, cinnamon, eucolyptus, and peppermint oil with hints of yeast and biscuity malt. flavor is quite good as well with the spice notes of ginger, peppermint, clove, and cinnamon at the forefront with citrus notes of orange and lemon peel and hints of sweet, belgian yeast. palate is medium bodied lively on the palate given the spices with a mildly bitter, spiced citrus finish. overall, a very unique addition to the vertical epic series.

Pours an orange color with white minimal head. There is some sediment. Primary aromas of ginger and orange peel. Secondary aromas of mango, white peppercorn, apricot, and coriander. Very fruity on the palate. Apricot, peach, orange, and ginger. The aftertaste is dominated by pineapple. The body is medium, but the overall feel is bright, due to the weighty carbonation. The aftertaste is medium length with pineapple and ginger. Overall, this is a really fun beer. Rather complex on every level, and worthy of aging even longer.

Cloudy orange/brown colour, with white head that disappears quick. Sweet and spicy fruit aroma. Fruit in particular orange with a nice spice/herb kick. A really good beer, that is going to be even better in two years!

Old notes: Pours a brilliant orange amber color, very pleasing to the eye. Head is generous at first but dissipates to a thin rim of white lace. Nose is candy like, fruit candies, like apricot and orange maybe, and some peppermint sugary aromas too. Palate is somewhat viscous with syruppy sweetness, in a good way, with a big spiced warmth at the end. Somewhat prickly on the palate too as alcohol is evident. Finish is long with lingering fruit and malt sweetness.

From bottle shared with awiseman and bro Eric. Pours golden orange with a thin white head. Taste is more cloves than I thought you could get in a beer along with a good amount of cinnamon. Taste more like a cider beer. Very smooth. Even my non beer drinking girlfriend liked this one.

Bomber. Hazy orange color, with medium frothy head. Aroma of various spices including ginger and cinnamon, also noticeable fruit and Belgian yeast. Flavor is very comparable to aroma, through spices are more prevalent, maybe a little too much ginger. Not my favorite in the Epic series, though still enjoyable.

Draft at Small Bar for their Stone night as part of San Diego Beer Week. The bar was kind of dark, but it appeared as a nice golden amber color with white head. Aroma is full of spice, citrus, yeast, and light pine. The spice is perhaps the most notable component of the flavor with nutmeg and cinnamon standing out. The ctirus peels are also quite noticeable along with yeast and some lightly toasty maltiness. The alcohol is completely hidden and it’s easily drinkable. Wish I had some at home.
