COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In this year’s edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

22 oz. bottle served in a CCB snifter. A: Pours a hazy apricot color with a white head forming on the pour. Some splotches of lace are left down the glass. S: A ton of cardamom and citrus zest. Some fruity alcohol notes as well with just a touch of sweet toffee malt. T: Some candied grapefruits with a some spicy yeasty. A little bubblegum with some big cardamom notes. Light caramel malts. A ton of zest with bitter citrus peel. M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation level. Spicy and zesty on the finish. O: Definitely one of the better ones of the nights, but I like cardamom and bitter zest. The beer was either liked or hated at the tasting mainly due to the cardamom. Serving type: bottle

Bottle sample at the Vertical Epic Tasting at Mastikim. Thanks beerandbeyond. Pours murky amber with white ring. Weird spicy aroma - marzipan, clove and faint citrus. Smooth, nectar-like texture, no fizz. full body.

Pours an orange head with a good head.

The arom ais fruitcake, brand, some cardboard & sherry and mild cooking spice. Not really unpleasant or uninviting, enjoyable really... but not especially "delicious" smelling.

The flavor has some sherry, vanilla, a good dosing of warming alcohol and some muted spice. The beer is not especially sweet and has some hints of nuttiness.

It’s funny to read the beginning of the description... "In this year’s edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples." drinking this I would have had no clue that either of these styles were what was intended.... which is of course kind of cool.

Didn’t do much for me, sort of flat, I think it was probably good younger but everything was sort of sweet and not that distinguishable.

Bottle sample at a Vertical Epic tasting at Mastikim. Thanks beerandbeyond. Hazy deep orange. Malty aroma with oxidation, honey, some fruitiness (a bit of orange peels)m some spiciness and a bit of alcohol. Sweet malty flavor, oxidized, honey-ish and spicy with some fruitiness, finishes spicy and alcoholic. Medium-bodied.

(bottle - 22 oz - Night of the Titans 2013) Cloudy orange pour with a fizzy white head. Lots of spicy and yeasty notes with lots of citrus as well. Flavor is lots of citrus and spice with a sweetness coming up at the end. Sticky sweetness lingers for a long time. Has a really nice tripel feel to it. Quite nice and still rather bubbly.

Huge thanks to Tim and Rachel. From Bottle, also on draft. Deep copper with a creamy white head. Aroma of yeasty spice, ginger, cinnamon and sweet caramel maltiness. Flavor is similar to aroma with notes of booze. Not too shabby.

100th rating! From bottle and draft. Copper hazy draft hazier than bottle. Huge cinnamon spice aroma. Bottle smells better than draft. Honey cinnamon sweet. Draft more oxidized than bottle. Bottles taste really good still. Vanilla.

On tap at Proof. Pours a hazy golden orange on tap with thin white lace and moderate lacing. Aroma of tart fruit, belgian esters, and booze. Taste is like a tart belgian tripel, boozey burn. Pretty good.
