Commercial Description:
In this year's edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. As such, the Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts, and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices --- including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home) --- and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

I was able to get six bottles and so I cracked one open. As soon as the top was off, very citrusy aroma. First sip had a ton of malty sweetness with bananna and clove overtones. Dark yellow almost amber in color that was cloudy. I am very anxious to try this again in a year. The bananna faded about mid bottle. Another great beer from a great brewery.

Pours a clear golden orange color with a thick white head. Aroma is strong spices, cloves, ginger, and orange. Very smooth and dry. Flavor is cinnamon, spices, citrus, and gingerbread.

Copper amber color and a thin white cover of head. Strong clovey aroma, nutmeg and other spices. More spicy clove and nutmeg flavors with light fruity bananas and citrus notes and a nice Belgian hoppy finish.

22 oz bottle. Pours a creamy, large bubbled head, slightly cloudy , pale orange color....nose almost like a Christmas cookie, cardamom predominates, with a bit of clove, ginger and citrus....tastes of multiple spices, including all the previously mentioned, not much hop addition. Finishing flavors were a bit off. I need to get a couple of more bottles to let it age.

poured into my duvel tulip. Bright golden pour with a white frothy head. Aroma is so pleasing! Loads of spicy hops, apricot, peach, candi sugar, even some pumpkin spice, and a slight peppery saison like aroma. VERY NICE! The flavour is sweet and very enjoyable, buttery soft, and loaded with spice, and a touch of citrus hops. Wow, this is an amazing beer!!! there is a slight apple finish that mingles with more subtle spices, and pumpkin notes. Wow, the year of age on this bottle did it a world of good, outstanding!

Tap from Tyler’s. Surprised to hear this called a mix of a Saison and a Golden Triple. The latter influence seemed clear but the former was a little less so. Bright golden pour with just a bit of haziness. Some yeast and Belgian sugar that I would expect from a tripel, and I guess the saison influence came from a bit of spice and orange peel. Was served a bit too cold so it took awhile for the subtle flavors to come out. Solid, but not amazing.
