COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 2008, Stone Brewmasters Steve Wagner and Mitch Steele traveled to Belgium, where they enjoyed a number of hop-forward Belgian tripels, pale ales and IPAs—beers that had taken a cue from the U.S. craft brewing movement and inspired us in return. It’s a big reason 2008’s summer season came to be known at Stone as our “Summer of the Triple.” Upon their return, they crafted Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale, the seventh beer in the 11-beer Stone Vertical Epic Ale series. Packed with floral, spicy essence from Belgian yeast plus plenty of hoppy New World character, it’s our West Coast take on hop-driven Belgian beers.

Bottle. It poured an orange color with a white head. The aroma was of hops, tropical fruits and banana. The taste was similar to the aroma with more sourness. It finished smooth, a great beer.

Hay, clove, Belgian yeast, and lemon zest make up the aromas. Taste is of hay/straw, phenolic banana esters, clove, pepper, and some lemon/lime zests. Alcohol follows as it warms.

2015 encore series. Belgian. Clove. Dry, no sweetness. Pretty boring. Of all the beers to bring back for an encore why this one.

650ml bottle from Armanettis in Huntley after the re-release, cellared for a few months, then shared by all during the family Christmas with the 08/09/10/11/12 as a vertical tasting. Very pale yellowish orange pour. Nose has hoppiness, but the taste fails to follow through at all and becomes a lager. Between this and the ’12 Christmas one which was the worst of the 5. 12.7

On tap at Beertemple, Amsterdam. Body is clear golden orange, head is medium, off-white, creamy, average lasting, excellent lacing. Nose is fruity, biscuit, belgian yeast, flavor is fruity, yeasty, raisin, honey. Medium sweet, light bitter, light yeast sour. Finish is medium lasting fruity sweet-sour. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Easy dessertish beer, interesting, a bit too sweet for me but not bad.

I had this on tap a month or two ago and it was so good, I went back the next night specifically to have it again before the keg ran out. SO delicious. Just now I had it from a bomber I found last week. Can I say I was disappointed? Honey colored pour with large white head. Aroma of Belgian yeasts with light fruits. Gentle sweetness. Medium carbonation.

On tap at ABV Public House in Hillsboro, OR. Crystal clear light golden pour. Huge banana spice aroma and taste. Fruits and an easy-to-drink sweetness. Medium to light mouthfeel. This was a nice surprise and a really lovely beer.
