The Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale is a Strong Golden Belgian style ale highly hopped with American hops (Ahtanum, Amarillo and Simcoe). The beer pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head of foam. The aroma is full of depth: nuances of pepper, clove, and banana from the Belgian yeast strain, and the resiny citrus notes from the American hops blend together nicely to provide a complex aromatic character. The taste is spicy, hoppy and fruity, with a very dry and a pleasant bitter end. The bitterness lingers nicely, and provides a refreshing finish that leads you to want to drink more and more of this beer!

Cellar aged. Poured beautifully & still unfiltered with a bright white head. Smells very fruity. Taste is still really potently tripel/alcoholic with lots if fruity fore & aftertaste. Amazing beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2008 bomber, Brandon’s house, split 3 ways. Thanks, Brandon. Spectacularly good Belgian strong. Textbook perfection plus more, with added spicy peppery notes, cloves, and Banana, plus a nice dose of hops. This aged remarkably well and at 5 year old it tasted shockingly fresh. I don’t usually go crazy for Belgians but this was right up my alley.

Golden beer with almost no head. White wine/grape nose with some grapefruit and some spice. Syrupy mouth feel with flavors of spice, grapefruit zest and white grapes. I’’m not a big fan of Belgian IPA’s, but this is so much bigger.

09.07.13. 22 oz. bottle. Cloudy orangec olor with almost no head. This beer was at the end of it’s prime, yet still very drinkable. Sweet aromas with light fruit, yeast and malt. Sweet flavors and finish. Wonder if this was better a few years ago/?

Pours a slightly hazy orange with quickly settling white head, no lacing. Aroma is floral, fruity, sweet, apricot, peach, with a mild hoppiness. Flavor is also quite sweet, fruity, peach/apricot, citrus and floral hops, spice, mild alcohol in the finish. Mildly herbal, bitter, fruity aftertaste. Soft carbonation, medium-light body, and mildly juicy texture. Seems to have cellared quite nicely. A good belgian.

22oz bottle. A: Clear orange color with a thin white head. Nice lacing and good bubbles. N: Caramel, toffee, mandarin orange, some oxidation, leafy hops, esters. T: Well balanced by the bitter and sweet elements. Tastes more like a barleywine/old DIPA than a BSA M: Sticky, medium body. Alcohol is prevalent. O: Not too bad. Hops have faded significantly and the oxidation level is light. Still solid, but not my favorite.

Bottle at RBSG. Pour is an unclear, light yellow with some head. Quite a bit of citrus on the nose and tons, belgian yeast, banana, finished bitter. Best of the ones I tried, wish I had finished the vertical.

Bottle at RBSG. Poured pale hazy yellow with a thin fading head. Aroma had decent citrus orange peel lemon scent with a mild spice malt. Taste more citrus a little bright and fruit rind with a spice and Belgian yeast/banana. Palate thin slick and warming. This one was nice.
