Big citrus aroma of pineapple and grapefruit. REALLY easy to drink, nice spice blended well with some more citrus flavour, alcohol and a nice warming finish. Great for the style.

Bottle at Akkurat. Cloudy golden colour, due to some of the sediment following the pour, with an off-white head. Aroma is fruity, hops, some spices. Flavour is fruity, spicy, some hops, a hint of alcohol.

Bottle, at Aces & Ales. Brassy gold body, hazy, with an orange luster. Aroma is sweet, honeysuckle, light spice, light yeast, undefined fruit. Palate is sticky but not cloying, sweet malts that lean toward floral honey, dried peaches, lightly spicy. No hop bitterness to speak of, but more of a sweet treat that calls to mind sauterne, but without any petroleum or funky depths. I was expecting more hops, but even without having my expectations met, I wasn’t disappointed.

The aroma was nice, fruity and spicy. It poured a beautiful pale golden color. The taste was sweet up front but had a nice clean, dry finish. I didn’t get any hop character out of it though perhaps it didn’t age well. Still an excellent beer.

Pours deep golden hue, minimal foam. Nice spicy funky aroma, touch of hop bitterness. Taste is sweet funky spicy with middling hot resin hops. Some clove and banana in the middle palate before a spicy warm ABV finish. Tight, well- balanced brew. Great stuff.

Clear golden with a pale head. Aroma is sherry, apricot, honey, wood, sweet white wine. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel, sweet on the palate, lingering sweet finish with a vague hint of bitterness in the aftertaste. Taste is apricot, honey, orange blossom, sauternes. Nice.

Glowing yellow pour with small white head. A nice fruity aroma with a good earthy and malty bite. Pretty damn good.

tap at hopcat event. Deep golden with small head. Very sweet and fruity. Hops are mild but crisp. Awesome - really outstanding beer. Sad that I’m unlikely to ever find it again.

Pours a golden amber color with a soapy white head. Aroma of grass, banana, peach, and caramel. Has a sweet caramel taste with some citrus and zest. Slight banana underneath. This beer is past it’s prime. You get that grainy dry aftertaste as the beer begins its descent into a malt bomb. Not sure why they chose a hoppy beer for 08, knowing the hops would fade.

22 oz bottle served in a branded glass at a tasting at Dan’s alongside the 2007 edition. Pours hazy amber with a moderate tan head that fades slowly to a thin cover and leaves a small amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are big floral notes with fruity esters, citrus and a slight pepperiness. The flavour is moderately bitter and slightly sweet with piney notes and citrus. On the palate, it is medium in body with a slightly dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a very nice Belgian style ale with California-style hops. I suspect that the hops have not held up as expected, as there is a slightly off character in the body. 2012-08-11
