COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ninth edition of our Stone Vertical Epic Ale series takes two interesting left turns. A Belgian-style golden triple is the starting point of this beer, but the first left turn is nearly immediate with the addition of dried chamomile flowers, triticale, and Belgian amber candi sugar. The second, and rather unusual left turn takes us half an hour up the road from Stone to Temecula courtesy of the addition of just-pressed Muscat, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc grapes from our friends at South Coast Winery. As the Stone Vertical Epic Ale series has moved through the calendar, we found that the brewing schedule for a 10.10.10 release coincided nicely with the grape harvest, neatly providing an interesting twist in this epic ale.

Rated on 11-03-2010. This bottled beer has a small off-white head with a short retention, hazy golden body, no visible carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malty, sweet, grapes, spicy, candied sugar, and floral. The taste is sugary sweet, malt, grapes, spicy, floral, and alcohol. The mouth feel is soft carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. The flavors in this beer are quite different than what I have experienced with this beer style in the past. This is a sipping beer with a warming sensation. It is worth trying.

Backlog. Slightly acidic with green grape aromas some citrus and floral aromas as well. The grapes really make themselves know.

Bottle. I’d had back in 2010, but just recently drank my last two bottles. Goddamn is this one brilliant beer. The accents of the wine grapes just fill everything in so nicely. Super stoked I drank them when I did, as I think they were almost ready to start their slow death.

22oz bomber pour. Orange hazy color with white head. Sour taste. Weird fruity and bitter flavor. Can't appreciate this one but can't knock it. Unusual.

Hazy golden pour with a white head. Aromas of wine and grape must with chamomile notes. Sweet malty flavor upfront with the grapes coming through nicely in the finish. Very smooth and easy to drink, no trace of the abv. This was one of my favorites in the series, great brew! Props to StFun for the bottle!

On draught at 2014 CellarFest at Bailey’s Taproom. Obviously 2010 vintage. Deep golden color. Aroma of grape, Belgian candi sugar, and citrus. Taste is sweet wine grapes, candied citrus, light yeast, and pineapple juice. Nicely balanced, with some smoothing from the aging.
