hammerbeck (101), Kentucky, USA Feb 4, 2007 Ridiculously hopped, this ain’t a beer for the faint of heart. But it is not undrinkably bitter like Stone’s double bastard. Doubtless, this is an IPA with lots of hop. I could taste every speck of hop the brewers added at every stage. Lovely. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA Feb 4, 2007 totally skunked. wondering if this went bad before we drank it. it seemed like it broke down or something, but it wasn’t all that old. there were hints of pine and grapefruit with some tangerine and some malt. not the best thing ever, hoped it had more from a stone... TheKegergator (241), California, USA Feb 3, 2007 Updated: Mar 7, 2007This was a dissapointment for me. WAAAAYYY to piny. I wanted to like it, but just couldn’t do it. Tried it chilled, didn’t like the first glass so i let it warm a bit, still no luck. The overkill piny taste was too much. Couldn’t get any alcohol or hops flavor out of it. I will try it again, but not for a while.

This thing has mellowed out a bit. It falls much more into may category of a top notch IIPA. The pine taste is there still, but in a much more blended taste.

I was ther with a bunch of japanese customers and they didn’t know what hit them. Wonderful stuff. Everything’s great about this beer. Gorgeous hazy copper/orange color, creamy persistent head, laced wiht the copper of the ale. Hoppy aromas, balanced sweet and hoppy taste, substantial mouthfeel . If you like an IPA (double/imperial) you have to try this. Cliff (355), Avon Lake, Ohio, USA Jan 30, 2007 22 oz bottle courtesy of Odeed. Poured a slightly hazy copper with a thick white head. Excellent aromas of both piney and floral hops with a bit of earthyness. Some sweetness as well. Nice flavor of said aromas, mostly I get the piney, earthy flavor. This is quite good. I really like the sweetness, but I feel it would have been better of suited balancing more citrus hops. That is being pretty nit-picky though. Overall, a very nice beer. Wish some were still around, I’d pick them up in a heartbeat. Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA Jan 29, 2007 Pours orange with a great sticky head. Aroma is fruity pebbles nad grapefruit. Flavor is nice and hoppy, grassy, tart, but also sweet and tangy. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany Jan 27, 2007 Bottle. Thanks to Styles. Poured a golden color with a white frothy head. Aroma of hops and citrus. Taste hoppy at first with a nice citrus finish. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA Jan 27, 2007 Hazy orange/amber pour with golden hues. Small white head with fair retention and thick lacing. The aroma has an intimidating and complex hop punch, bring in scents of grapefruit, lavender, honeydew melon and a touch of mint. A sizeable malt backbone is a welcome addition. Very lovely bouquet, smells very ripe, oily. Flavor is right away a very complex hop melange. More flavor of the same nature as the aroma, caramel maltiness is intense and delicious. The malt is almost as formidable as the hops. White pepper in the medium length and dry finish. Palate is very drying and full, quite soft as well. Enjoyable.
