TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 27, 2006 Bottle courtesy of Kenb. amber with medium tannish head. flavor is resinous hops with faint sweet malts, grapefruit looms. Not increibly balanced as I would have liked. but I guess we have to realize that it is 10%. it shows, but thats not a bad thing. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Sep 27, 2006 Thanks to CMUBEERMAN. Bottle. Pours hazy orange gold, off white head. Flavor is hops, citrus, floral, caramel. Flavor is the same, with emphasis on orange flavor. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Sep 27, 2006 Updated: Mar 5, 2008(9/27/06, 22oz bottle) Crystal clear deep amber body topped by a medium off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, pineapple, herbal, caramel, peach, light alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, pineapple, grapefruit, caramel, peach syrup, light alcohol, cane sugar. Alcohol is held well by the resiny, sticky full body.
(3/5/08, 22oz bottle) For some reason I saved a bottle, then of course forgot about it. Tonight when I opened it, it was a gusher and a boozy mess. I’m not going to knock my score down, because this isn’t something that makes much sense to age. All the same, it’s about a 2.4 now, a waste of money to have saved it. haddon90 (1035), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Sep 27, 2006 On cask at the Liar’s Bar in Mission Beach, CA. Pours a foggy orange/amber color with a thin head. The warmness really brings out the alcohol in this beer. Huge hops aroma. Piney, with some spice and citrus. Amazing taste. Heavy. Very impressed. One of the better Stone beers I have had in a while. Keep up the good work. mkgrenwel (420), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA Sep 26, 2006 Updated: Oct 24, 2006Pours a glowing caramel with red tones. Aroma is sweet, sticky hops. Pine, citrus and gummy bears. Flavor is not what I was expecting, given the aroma. Very spicy, peppery and earthy. Hot alcohol presence. Real malty. Heavy, strong bitterness. Extremely lacking in the hops that I expected. Good amounts of pine, but really no other hop presence. Really really malty. Palate is rich, smooth and velvety. Everything about this beer is fantastic, except the flavor, which is just good. Like everyone else, I can’t wait to see how this ages. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA Sep 26, 2006 Ahhh, this was quite tasty. Amber colour with an eggshell like head. The hops are very apparent in the aroma, Pine hops with some resiny qualities, there are some apricots as well. The flavour is wonderful, exploding with hops, but not overly bitte rlike some double IPAs. Smoth, well balanced, flavourful, just a great beer. I’m glad I grabbed a few of them! BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Sep 26, 2006 [bottle] Pours a very dark copper color, with a lumpy white head. Aroma of rich, dense hops, sharp and fierce on the nose. Taste is so damn hoppy, almost skunky, with quite a bit of fruitness behind it all. Peaches, mango and plenty of citrus fruits make up a majority of the flavors. Nice substantial alcohol heat. Not as much malt as I expected, which tips the scale in the hop’s favor, but I’m into it. This is a hop bomb in every sense of the word. eboats (887), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Sep 26, 2006 Poured orange with a dirty white head. Aroma was HUGE grapefruit. Just sweet hoppy grapefruit goodness. It tasted weak at first, but gets stronger with every sip. The flavor is again BIG grapefruit that starts sweet and fades to a bitter hop finish. Great body and hop character.
