Taste just tries to put some sweetness upfront, but the bitterness is just to strong for it. Citrus and pine flavors mix in the bitterness in this hop display. Alochol shows a bunch, should have probably let this age more. Finish has a lot of grapefruit character. riversideAK (2808), Shoreline, Washington, USA

I wanted to, and I tried like 5 times. I guess I was too excited and it did not live up to my own hype. Alot of tropical fruit in the nose and the flavor. I didnt get alot of the bitter hoppiness that I expected. Very heavy and full. It was even hard to finish for me.
Re rate: On tap at Stone, aged one year. Mellowed out alcohol and became very well balanced and pretty enjoyable. TaktikMTL (2793), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 11, 2006 Cloudy orange, thin white head. Sweet, juicy aroma, verging on overly sweet. Flavor is caramel and citrusy sweetness, ans well. Hop bite at the end. Seems discombobulated, somehow. Thanks to Springslicker for this one! IrishBoy (2731), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 28, 2006 Bottle delivered in beer swap 2.0 - light copper with huge ring of lace - bright and fruity aroma at first (with some flowery, perfume-like aromas), followed by some bready characteristics and sweet caramel/toffee - quite sweet and almost syrupy, but the abundant (but not oerpowering) hop profile keeps it from getting cloying - some herbal notes arise briefly, followed by sweet strawberry, orange and grapefruit - the simcoe hops become quite apparent as the beer (somewhat) dries out in the finish, leaving their long bitter twang to mingle with the fruit to make the beer almost tangy - very barleywine-ish, so it should age well.
