Commercial Description:
Stone 10th Anniversary IPA harkens back to our earlier Anniversary Ales, with abundant hopping at many stages of the brewing process. Appropriately, the aroma is over-the-top, with pronounced piney and resiny hop flavors combined with tropical fruit esters and more subtle notes of toasted malts and alcohol. Our Stone 10th Anniversary Ale weighs in at 10% alcohol by volume (perfect for a 10th anniversary beer), and has a little more color and malt character than our other IPAs. In addition to using the new Summit hop variety in the brewhouse to provide the powerful bitterness, we went back through our records and found some of our favorite hops over the years, and used them to flavor this brew, including Chinook, Crystal, and large doses of Simcoe in the dry-hop to provide a huge, complex, piney, fruity and floral hop character. This is a colossal beer, big in every sense: hoppy, malty, rich, and strong! Right up our alley.

Big flavor on this one. Pours amber with offwhite head. Aroma is sweet malt and slightly resiny perfumy hops. Taste is much the same. Thick and sticky. Crazy bitter finish.

Burnt orange color, a bit cloudy. Pineapple, mango, and other citrus in the nose. Big floral hop characteristics and sweet cane sugar as well. Hops are front and center on this one but not overdone. A bit sweet, slightly tart and very well balanced. Would love to have again.

Not a typical IPA. Very heady and dark. Too strong to really be considered an IPA. Some hops and lots of malt, too much malt for an IPA. Very good beer, for beer lovers. IPA afficionados may disagree.

Golden/Amber color with an off white head. Citrus aroma, with a smooth citrus taste. Hoppy and bitter from start to finish.

On tap at Oldsmar Tap House (Tampa, FL). Pours a slightly hazy orange-yellow color with a thin white head. Aroma is very floral and hoppy with notes of sweet malt, grass, and wheat. Flavor is also very floral and hoppy with some slightly sweet, malty notes as well. Good balance between malt and hops. Generally medium to full body with a hoppy finish.

22 oz bottle. Aged about 2 years in the bottle. Very citrus, floral, sweet and alcoholic aroma. Hazy orange with an off white thick head leaving some nice lace. The flavor is big in every way, sweet, bitter, and strong alcohol. Thick mouth feel. Very intense beer, like others have stated almost more of a barley wine, but maybe that’s the aging coming through.

22oz. bottle. Strongly hoppy, citric aroma, plenty of pineapple with hints of tangerine, quite ripe and juicy, along with fainter suggestions of pale, lightly toasty malt sweetness, cake, pine, honey and some background alcholic fumes. Clear dark golden color with light amber highlights and a fading head. Flavor profile is a bit sweeter than expected, plenty of malt here to start but this is quickly infused with the expectedly large amount of hoppiness, fruity and powerful with more pineapple noted and touches of grapefruit. Smooth, slick and lightly syrupy palate, body is of course quite full. Flavorful and fairly well balanced but somehow didn’t "wow" me the way some other examples of this style have and do. Still pretty tasty, however.

Deep amber/copper. Dimishing head, stays wispy with nice lacing. Nose of caramel, resin, pineapple, bit of alcohol. Medium-full bodied, lots of tropical esters, damn rich and creamy for an IPA, sweet malts, lots of hop flavor, something cedar like is sticking with me in the finish at the back of throat, weird hop?. Alcohol lights you up, lots of hop burps. Fun beer.
