COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stone 10th Anniversary IPA harkens back to our earlier Anniversary Ales, with abundant hopping at many stages of the brewing process. Appropriately, the aroma is over-the-top, with pronounced piney and resiny hop flavors combined with tropical fruit esters and more subtle notes of toasted malts and alcohol. Our Stone 10th Anniversary Ale weighs in at 10% alcohol by volume (perfect for a 10th anniversary beer), and has a little more color and malt character than our other IPAs. In addition to using the new Summit hop variety in the brewhouse to provide the powerful bitterness, we went back through our records and found some of our favorite hops over the years, and used them to flavor this brew, including Chinook, Crystal, and large doses of Simcoe in the dry-hop to provide a huge, complex, piney, fruity and floral hop character. This is a colossal beer, big in every sense: hoppy, malty, rich, and strong! Right up our alley.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2007 Bomber. Somewhat cloudy orange yellow pour with a big white head and quite a bit of settling. Really nice to look at it. Aroma is dry grass, sopping wet citrus and malt. The malt is the initial taste, rounds out to the citrus and a bit of alcohol in the finish. Great beer, too bad it was a one time deal. This is not as crisp / clean as Ruination, but it is certainly more complex.

Bomber poured a deep gold hue w/ large foamy head and sticky lacing. Moderate tropical aromas. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a bold bitter finish. Tastes are pineapple, graham cracker, piney and resinous hop, mango, and light toast. Medium bodied and light warmth to the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught at Harry’s Hofbrau. Pine and resin aromas. Clear copper with small off white head. Taste is piney, sticky, alcohol burn. Side to side with the 5 year and the 5 year carried the day.

650ml bottle from Ray’s in Tosa, as part of the anniversary pack. Shared with bananabi11. 8/17/2016 bottle date so less than one month old. Orange amber pour, very clear, with a bit of an off-orange head. Hoppy nose. Pineapple. Other citrus. Pine. Overripe fruits. Some alcohol. The blend is solid. Finishes more bitter than bittersweet. Thanks Stone for re-releasing! 14

11 oz pour at City Beer, during their Stone 20th anniversary event. Oily copper golden pout with a thin fizz head. Hop heavy aroma from a distance with a noticeable booziness. A dominant tropical fruit profile. Full of pineapple. Some imperial heat to linger in the finish, but doesn’t overpower. Drinks nice as an overall. Solid stuff.

Tapped at the Stone tasting room in San Diego. Clear copper color. Thick soapy head. Aroma of malt, sweet fruits of the forest, citrus. Taste mirrors the aroma plus good bitter hops. Boozy, warming alcohol. Nice double IPA.

Growler fill from brewery in Escondido. Actually had the original version at Ston’e Winter Storm several years ago, but lost my notes from that time. I got heavily into craft beer around Stone’s 11th or 12th anniversary, so this was a little before my time. POURS a clear amber hue with one finger of white foam. AROMA of woody and piney hops, green tea, some bright citrus and tropical fruit notes, moving into additional notes of dank hops and cat piss. FLAVOR of mild pine resin, overripe tropical fruit (pineapple stands out), tangerine rind, all over a layer of sweet-ish honey malts that lends a nice balance here. Remarkably smooth and the big 10% is really well concealed here, lending this an air of drinkability that may not actually be there. No doubt a really big deal a decade ago when it first came out. And a big improvement over the 5th Anniversary that I had a few days ago. Stone’s encore series lets us see the evolution of the (D)IPA over the years. (586, 1042)

Had two nice glasses of this tonight at Bittercreek... Fresh and super tasty... Every bit as good as I remember it.... Bright pine and fruity.. tangerine citrus zest... just enough pale malt to balance... Bitter, but not overwhelming... incredibly drinkable given the big ABV. Huge winner 10 years later. Cannot wait for bottles of this to arrive in Boise.
