3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had back in 2011, but just recently drank my last bottle. This was a weird one. Nose was on point, but the flavors didn’t really come out in full force like they could’ve. Here’s to experimentation though!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty, spicy nose with dried fruit, cinnamon, chilli, toffee, a touch of coriander and estery aromas of banana and clove. Malty, fruity, spicy taste with notes of dried fruit, toffee, cinnamon, chilli, orange peel, honey, banana, clove and a touch of chocolate. Medium spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Soft and rounded mouthfeel for its strength. The chilli is quite flavourful, but with balanced heat. Lots of cinnamon and yeasty esters coming through. Sounded weird, but is actually quite enjoyable and fairly well balanced. Nice one.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Celebrating the Vertical Epic Series.
P: A vivacious clear amber to copper body that has a dollop of tan bubbly head.
S: Nice a peppery, Anaheim pepper, picketed bell peppers, picketed jalapeño peppers, banana phenol, orchard fruit, cinnamon. Nice heat to this.
T/M: Spicy peppers continue with a spices and sweet malt background. Medium smooth tight body crisp carbonation.
O: Nice and spicy. Tons of different variations of spice to this. Spicy hops and vinegar soaked peppers. The heat was really brought with this beer and it developed nicely. I have to expect that it was quite intense when fresh.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Hazy red/brown pour with a white head sweet malt aromas with cinnamon and subtle pepper notes. Flavor is similar with the pepper character being just enough to add some nice complexity to the beer. Abv is well-hidden. This one was very easy to drink. Aged very well. Props to StFun for the bottle!

Lots of credit to make a beer this far out of the box, but it doesn’t work for me. The Belgian Strong Ale community is littered with the remains of those that don’t rise to the top, and although most don’t work due to compromised ingredients, this doesn’t because of the actual ingredients. Nice try.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Flaska delad hos Petrus. BBD feb-14.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
A: cherry red with a finger of transient yellow foam. Spotty lace.Excellent clarity.
S: cloves, bananas, chillies, cinnamon, just enough chili to make me interested.
T: tastes like a Belgian tripel with cinnamon and chili essence. Wrong yeast for this beer.
M: medium bodied with Smooth velvet carb.
O: meh. Cool idea. Want less yeast, more chili.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Nose is sweet with some yeast to start but really takes on the shape of fresh, meaty green chillies. Some mild toffee/caramel malt character, approaching a dubbel. Deep orange brown that settles into a murky chestnut brown, a large rocky and creamy tan head, oily on the sides of the glass and collapses much more quickly than expected. Taste lightly sweet, not really bitter at all, slightly-built toffee and yeast character as mentioned before, with mild Anaheim chillies that don’t burn in the mouth and are only felt in the chest if one moves too rashly. A very interesting combination of flavors, and not really clashing at all, as I had expected; aided by restraint in chili proportioning, and that the flavor they give is really hearty/delicious. Full but flattish body, malt character goes down straight, hops are as hidden as the (impressively hidden) alcohol. Brown sugar? Aftertaste smacks of sticky Munich with extra melanoidin development. Smooth, clean. On the whole, this is a little bland compared to its brothers, or perhaps overly mild, but dignified and drinks dangerously easily.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Brownish-red with a medium off-white head. Aroma is very sweet and malty, a distinct green pepper aroma from the Anaheims. Taste is medium sweet, mild bitter, and quite vegetal, with some spice and more of the Anaheim peppers. Finish is dry with more pepper coming through.
