Pours dark amber with khaki head, aroma is strong belgian yeast and a bit of cinnamon, no chiles, the yeast is spicy in aroma. Taste is complex, semi sweet with a deep rich flavor, nice belgian spice from the yeast, some heat from the chilies and a dash of cinnamon, abv is masked well, very good, would love to see how this ages

Reviewing a somewhat fresh bottle now. I have more in my cellar. Poured into a duvel tulip. Cloudy, dark, amber brown. Thick, light tan head that takes forever to shrink. Now at one inch 2 minutes after pour. Floral, pine, grapefruit, pepper, caramel, and malty notes in the aroma. Taste is pepper, apple, grapefruit, orange, toffee, and more pepper. It actually picks up on the flavor of the aneheim pepper besides the heat. Mouthfeel is thin and a bit sticky. I canít wait to try it in a year.

i was scared to buy this, but the outlandish things added to this beer really turned out to be balanced into a nice amber malt and belgian yeast strain. a good beer...

Pours dark amber worth beige ish head. The aroma is musty and grainy with a light yeasty fruit. The taste is rich and heavy on barley with a light Belgian strong ale character. There is an up front chili spice with an intense cinnamon to cover the strong grainy beer. There is a little Belgian fruity taste, apples and sort of a cherry tint. Overall interesting, not amazing but unique.

Beer is clear medium brown with a light tan head. Aromas are sweet banana and spicy from the cinnamon. Taste is sweet Belgian yeast and cinnamon on the front end, but as the flavor lingers some warmth from the chilies, and some vegetable taste. The bitterness also comes in on the back end. Body is medium. ABV is disguised well. A good one in this great series.

Bottle. † Pours dark brown with thick tan head. †Aroma of bananas, spices, chilies, and dark fruits. †Taste of bread, spice, and Belgian yeast. †Medium mouthfeel. †Reminds of a Dubbel . †Kind of bland. †Zero chilies or cinnamon in the flavor. †Just OK.

On tap. Pours very dark with brown head. Good roasty aroma with malt, cinnamon and was hard but I got a little bit of the chilli peppers. Taste was very strong and surprising with a light bitter tone.

22 oz. from who-the-hell-knows. Apparently only grabbed one bottle of this stuff last, last November as it doesnít look like I rated it at all. Well, Now itís Feb. 2013 so I suppose I should crack it open. Very warm and fuzzy on the tongue. Caramel, sweet, licorice, and alcohol that pops in now and again. Not a whole lot of spiciness going on, though I suppose thatís because itís been sitting around for 15 months. The different flavor profiles have all mushed together in a pleasant muddle. I havenít tried a lot of these Vertical Epics so I canít compare to other vintages, but this works.
