On tap at Bad Apple, Chicago. Murky ruby with just a dusting of head. Medium bodied. Maybe the best chili beer Iíve ever had; itís a full, lasting flavor thatís more than just a spicy overtone. Belgian base is a nice counterpoint, with over-ripe fruits and a hint of sweetness to start. The spice dominates the rootsy finish in a very nice way. Very well made. Not an instant favorite, but glad I had it.

Hazy amber with a nice head. Aroma of alcohol and oxidation, raisins, caramel. Taste of lots of the same, very raisiny, some mango, nose that lasts into palate.

Bottle. Pours a hazy mahogany red with a short lived off white head. Aroma is malty and fruity. Flavor is big and malty with a spicy background with just the right bite. The finish leaves a little burn in the throat from the chiles. This would go well with flame grilled red meat (especially bison).
TIP: Let this beer warm a little after pouring to bring out the full flavors.

Bomber from... somewhere. Pours the flanderís red cinnamon deep amber color, decent amount of foam initially, but itís thin in constitution and fades away within a couple of minutes, leaving a thin, persistent film on 75% of the beerís surface. Aroma is all sweet malts, like candi sugar and cinnamon. The only pepper burn comes through literally as a burn to the insides of my nostrils. Taste is malt-forward, followed by a touch of the dark hint of heat from the Anaheims, with a resounding cinnamon and red-hots finish. Funny, hadnít thought of that candy in years, but here it sort of is in beer form. Cool. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation and a long finish. Nice beer. Not great, and not as good as most of the others, but still fun and high quality.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2012 opened on 12-12-12, cellared at exactly 55 degrees since its release. Much more malt, and Belgian yeast aroma. Hints of a cherry cinnamon aroma. More of those in the flavor. A little touch of heat and pepper flavor, but much more malt and Belgian character than when it was fresh. Has aged nicely though.
This beer pours a dark copper. Aroma of malt, and almost fruit. It isnít as harsh in the mouth as one might think, but it isnít a smooth beer either.
Malty taste, but the peppers really shine through without being abrasive. It hides the 9.4% well, until you get about halfway through. Should be an interesting beer as it ages.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark copper color. The chiles dominate the nose. The palate is a balance o sweetish malt, the anaheims and some hops. The cinammon just disappears among everything else. Very good.

Draft at Blue monk. Pours a reddish brown with an off white head that is very frothy. Sweet Aroma with brown sugar and some spice. Tastes sweet up front with a lot of brown sugar and belgian yeast. Not too spicy, but thereís definitely something going on.

From the bottle, pours a deep dark red with an off-white foamy head, nice lacing. Deep sweet malty aroma with hints of alcohol and a bit of yeast. Heavy flavor, earthy, dark malt, some cherries, alcohol, canít find the cinnamon. Quality as always from these guys.
