2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2013 Agave nose? Clear brown, medium yellow head. prickly pear and overripe apples. this has the same off-putting (to me anyways) hop that I have found in a few others beers.
Re-rate: Re-sampled on 01/04/13. After a year of age, much of the original flavor of this beer has disappeared, except for the chiles, which are now in the forefront. All in all, that makes it much better.

Medicincy, not medicinal, but in a foreign country kind of way. Amber with an alcohol consistency, and that means runny. Some vegetable spice herb bullshit going on. Just make beer stone. Why? Smells like something i donít want to take when Iím sick. Tastes like a pumpkin ale. Fail. But Iím sure the ingredients were expensive... unfortunately an occasional poor indicator of quality.... which does not equate to enjoyment.

Pours a cloudy orange-brown color with a big bubbly head fades normally. Aroma is very odd, spicy chili peppers, belgian yeast, and candi sugar. Not a fan of the taste all. Chili peppers mixed with very sweet and syrupy malt. Finish is dry and slightly tart. This is pretty gross.

Bottle - Malty toffee nose with chili peppers. Cloudy amber with a thin head. The flavor was dominated by chili powder, which tasted like it was dumped in. I found this beer to be out of balance and almost undrinkable with the way the pepper tasted. This may be due to the age of the beer.

22 oz bomber from Spirits Toms River. Okay everyone i love Stone too but where are these scores coming from? After reading the description I thought okay, sounds different this might be good. I was very wrong. Peppers should only be added to beer to add some heat not flavor. This beer smells like a cross between peppers and Spanish olives add in a dash of earth and wave a cinnamon shaker over top. The appearance is nice with a clear brown/orange body under a foamy light beige head. Luckily the malt bill is pretty big and there is a burst of grain and bread before that nasty pepper flavor kicks in. Ugh, this beer does not work. Take the Stone Epic name off of it and this beer wonít even rate a 2.5.

Bottle. Pours copper with a large beige head. Aroma of funk with a hint of pepper. Flavors of caramel malts, artificial sweetener, syrup, a funky yeast flavor and peppers starting in the middle to the end. Donít taste the cinnamon. Overall the flavors combine to give the beer a taste similar to dirt. Not good.

After three samples on different nights, Iím disappointed. Ruby-amber color, with minimal head. Spicy aroma with cloves and banana, but no cinnamon. Taste is medicinal, surprisingly unpleasant, sweet but without any balance from hops. Itís the only beer from Stone that I havenít liked.

Pours a burn amber color with off white head. Malt, chili, yeast and spice aroma. Yeast, chili, spice and malt flavors. Medium body and astringent chili finish. Canít say iím a fan.

1.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle: Poured a cloudy dark orangey color ale with large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of Anaheim peppers and bready yeast is intriguing with notes of cinnamon and caramel malt also easily noticeable. Taste is a mix between some solid caramel malt with a sweet edge and some cinnamon which unfortunately needs with too many spicy notes and therefore this beer ends ups as a major mess. Body is full with limited filtration and huge malt backbone with good carbonation. No alcohol notes or if there was any there were hidden by the peppers notes. I could barely bring myself to drink ľ of the bottle before it hit the drain. Not sure where all those high rates are coming from.
