22 oz bottle. Hazy brown with off-white froth. Nose is banana, clove and green chili. Hints of cinnamon and plastic. Medium body with a sharp tingle. Taste is green banana, yeast, bitter grass, bitter spices and earthy chili pepper. A nice inclusion of spicy heat is about all that makes this brew worthy of consumption.

Hazy amber with a nice head. Aroma of alcohol and oxidation, raisins, caramel. Taste of lots of the same, very raisiny, some mango, nose that lasts into palate.

A: cherry red with a finger of transient yellow foam. Spotty lace.Excellent clarity. S: cloves, bananas, chillies, cinnamon, just enough chili to make me interested. T: tastes like a Belgian tripel with cinnamon and chili essence. Wrong yeast for this beer. M: medium bodied with Smooth velvet carb. O: meh. Cool idea. Want less yeast, more chili. Lots of credit to make a beer this far out of the box, but it doesnít work for me. The Belgian Strong Ale community is littered with the remains of those that donít rise to the top, and although most donít work due to compromised ingredients, this doesnít because of the actual ingredients. Nice try.

Poured from bottle to glass. Copper hue with creamy off white head. Aroma is straw, esters, peppercorn, earthy, prunes, tobacco. Mouthfeel is ok with a medium light body and crisp carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness followed by a spice astringentness. Overall this is an odd brew.

From notes. Tasted on 12/12/12 from a capped 22oz bottle with Curtis, and the Nashville crew. Pours hazy orange/amber with an average off-white head that leaves thin, bubbly lace. The nose is full of malty caramel with some chili pepper and cinnamon underlying. The flavor is sweet caramel malt up front, moving to cinnamon and chili pepper spice, pretty simple. The body is full and sticky with average carbonation and a long sweet caramel and spicy chili finish.

Good amount of aromas on the nose. Some licorice candy, caramel and some sweetener. Nice amber body with dirty dish soap head that disapated rather quickly. Sticky sweet candy with some starchy yeast not the beat bt fits the style. Bad aftertaste on palte sticky sweet candy but has a body warming effect. Alright beer

22 oz. bottle. Reddish brown pour with some head. Aroma of liquid smoke, cinnamon, mild spice from the chiles, toffee, caramel. Chile flavor starts out mild at first but some spice starts to open up. Some caramel sweetness, some cinnamon, lots of sweet bread. Towards the middle of the beer the chile dies out completely and it becomes a simple spiced yet cloying amber toffee bready mess. How this is supposed to age for a year I have no idea. I remember the halcyon days of my beer youth when new Stone offerings were exciting and wonderful. Now, itís not even enough to upset me. Just mediocre and disappointing.

22 ounce bottle purchased at one of the myriad of places around here that I forget. Fuck. Stone brewed another Belgian ale. This has obnoxious sweet, super estery mutant bananarama yeast notes in the nose. There might be a little peppery spiciness, but Iím not sure if I would have picked that up without a prior hint. Not much else here. Filtered, transparent orange-amber body with a small, quickly dissipating off-yellow head. Starts quite sweet and sugary, before some of the fruity banana-like yeast esters take over. It then becomes a little spicy with just a tiny touch of heat, Finishes very dry and almost burnt. Warming with some ethanol present as well. Itís an interesting and unique beer. Not as bad as I had expected, but still nothing world-class, either.

Bottle courtesy of Dale. Sweet, spicy, malty, pepper, cinnamon. Medium body. Low drinkability due to the odd flavor profile. Misstep.
