3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a hazy mahogany with a 2 finger, creamy to soapy beige head that has great retention and leaves a little lacing. Aroma is dried dark fruit, sweet bread spice, earthy hops, bready yeast, earthy nutty notes, chocolate, dark caramel and a hint of citrus. Flavor is chocolate, caramel, earthy dried chiles, cinnamon heavy sweet bread spice, nutty notes (could be malt, chiles, or both), earthy, woody and citrus hops, grilled stone fruit, dried dark fruit, nutty toffee and light roast. Finishes nutty and with a slightly vegetal chile note. Medium body with a full, lightly creamy entry, pleasant, moderate strength carbonation and off dry finish. Really good, flavorful and complex without being overbearing, hides 9.4%abv very well.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
From notes. Tasted on 12/12/12 from a capped 22oz bottle with Curtis, and the Nashville crew. Pours hazy orange/amber with an average off-white head that leaves thin, bubbly lace. The nose is full of malty caramel with some chili pepper and cinnamon underlying. The flavor is sweet caramel malt up front, moving to cinnamon and chili pepper spice, pretty simple. The body is full and sticky with average carbonation and a long sweet caramel and spicy chili finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft. Oh dear, this beer didn’t work for me. Over a cloudy amber body, nose is green bell pepper, jalapeno, light strawberry, some fruity yeast and dough. Flavor is awash with simple Belgian amber notes with that lingering green jalapeno waxiness. It lacks a pleasing balance of flavors.

Bottle with Salmoniform for my first beer of my birthday (Nov, 11th) with the 11/11 vertical epic. Pours Amber with red hues, off white head. Aroma is strong figs, prunes, dark fruits, plums, vanilla, cinnamon. Taste has peppery heat, lots of dark Belgian esters, prunes, medium bodied, low to medium carbonation. Overall, hmmmmm....

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from bottle to glass. Copper hue with creamy off white head. Aroma is straw, esters, peppercorn, earthy, prunes, tobacco. Mouthfeel is ok with a medium light body and crisp carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness followed by a spice astringentness. Overall this is an odd brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draught at Petrol Station. Pours a clear dark copper color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit and spices. Medium to full body with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruit, herbs and subtle chili pepper. The finish is fruity and malty, with the chili pepper all but nonexistent, possibly due to the age? Pretty good regardless.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
It pours with a dark amber color that is copped by a big, foamy head. At this point, I expected the aroma to be pretty muted, and it was save for some bread, caramel, and a little bit of the chile. There is still a good hit of spice still present in the flavor, however, which provides a little punch and a little added sweetness even. The additions raise this beer from a solid, malty amber ale without seeming gimmicky. Maybe some of the character has been lost with age, but I found this beer to be quite enjoyable.
