3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz Bottle. The pour was a murky dark amber brown with a large (2-3 finger) light brown foamy head that reduced to a few puddles and a large collar with good sticky lacing.
The aroma was of roasted caramel malts and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of chocolate, toffee, cinnamon, chili’s, dried fruit (raisons and figs) and a mild alcohol tinge.
The taste was malty sweet and a bit acidic with a note of caramel and a touch of cinnamon and chocolate early on, and then progressed with a seriously bold maltiness that had hints of toffee, dried fruit and a light spicy alcohol finish. The flavor lasted for a good long while with a slightly spicy sweet warming sensation, which hit you right in the back of the throat.
Mouthfeel was a solid medium in body and dry in texture with a somewhat mild carbonation.
Overall this was a very interesting brew, lots of complexity with the flavors in this one. That being said, they all seemed to work extremely well together, making this a very enjoyable drinking experience...

Flaska delad hos Petrus. BBD feb-14.

A: cherry red with a finger of transient yellow foam. Spotty lace.Excellent clarity.
S: cloves, bananas, chillies, cinnamon, just enough chili to make me interested.
T: tastes like a Belgian tripel with cinnamon and chili essence. Wrong yeast for this beer.
M: medium bodied with Smooth velvet carb.
O: meh. Cool idea. Want less yeast, more chili.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Nose is sweet with some yeast to start but really takes on the shape of fresh, meaty green chillies. Some mild toffee/caramel malt character, approaching a dubbel. Deep orange brown that settles into a murky chestnut brown, a large rocky and creamy tan head, oily on the sides of the glass and collapses much more quickly than expected. Taste lightly sweet, not really bitter at all, slightly-built toffee and yeast character as mentioned before, with mild Anaheim chillies that don’t burn in the mouth and are only felt in the chest if one moves too rashly. A very interesting combination of flavors, and not really clashing at all, as I had expected; aided by restraint in chili proportioning, and that the flavor they give is really hearty/delicious. Full but flattish body, malt character goes down straight, hops are as hidden as the (impressively hidden) alcohol. Brown sugar? Aftertaste smacks of sticky Munich with extra melanoidin development. Smooth, clean. On the whole, this is a little bland compared to its brothers, or perhaps overly mild, but dignified and drinks dangerously easily.

Brownish-red with a medium off-white head. Aroma is very sweet and malty, a distinct green pepper aroma from the Anaheims. Taste is medium sweet, mild bitter, and quite vegetal, with some spice and more of the Anaheim peppers. Finish is dry with more pepper coming through.

22 oz bottle from Evergreen Discount into a Duvel tulip. Amber and hazy with a small head. Aroma and flavor of light pepper, cinnamon, veggie, fruity esters, yeast, toasted malts and spices. It was OK.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy reddish brown with an off white head and lacing. It has a nice aroma of chiles, cinnamon, raisin and other dark fruit notes. The flavor is spicy chiles and sweet malt up front leading to a spicy sweet finish over a medium body.

11.11.2013. 22 oz. bottle opened 2 years after release. Pours deep copper with a small tan head. Sweet fruity aromas with malt and spice. The peppers still show though, but the cinnamon is gone which is great in my book. For a beer this old, mine held up pretty good and not as flat as I had expected.

Happy 11.11, the time has come to clear space in my cellar & drink this bottle of Stone’s Vertical Epic 11.11 I got it from Asahiya, 9.4%. Served in a Trappist glass, a beautiful mellow amber brown pour with a beige head. The aroma is malty sweet with some fruity notes of figs & chili heat. The taste is malty, nutty, sweet, figs, plums & a mild chili heat in the finish. This was made with cinnamon but I don’t pick up on that at all. A nice Belgian with some heat from the booze & the Anaheim chilies! I think I agree with others, it isn’t aging that well but is still ok.

Bottle - this was aged, but it has completely lost the chile heat or cinnamon character. I agree with the brother, meh.
