Commercial Description:
Our Stone 11th Anniversary Black IPA uses de-husked dark malt imported from Germany and American high alpha hop varieties, including Chinook, with Simcoe and Amarillo hops combined in the dry-hop. These ingredients combine to provide this beer with complex citrus and roast flavors, neither one overwhelming the other, but both intense enough to assure a totally unique and deep flavor profile. It's not a Porter, and it's not a Stout.

Draft. A pitch black beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of pebermint, berries, and lots of hops. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of grass as well as notes of peaches, hops, and pebermint, leading to a bitter finish. The hops are so powerful that they even give it just a hint of acidity.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Almost black, small head. Evident grapefruity hop aroma. Drya nd fairly clean with streamlined but well rounded body. Really well hopped with loads of grapefruit and a vital body of cookie malt. Perhaps the black colour is fooling my brian, but I seem to get some licorice as well. An impressive brew in typical Stone Brewing fashion.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of kmweaver. Pours a clear, warm, reddish brown with a light brown head. Very fresh, peachy aroma. Medium body, light notes of caramel but otherwise completely dominated by peachy hop notes that also leave a massive bitterness. An exciting one. 021107

Murky dark brown. Smells like a good Black Toque. All toasty and leafy, then dark & chewy. Big anise finish. What I like about this is the size and sweetness of the body, it really provides a solid backdrop for the leafy hops.

From bottle, blind tasting at Papsoes - beer no 23. Pours dark brown with a red hue and a dense off-white head. Heavy fruity aroma, peach, grapefruit and a bit of pineapple on top of a dense malt aroma. Dark caramel flavoured with a good portion of sugar. Ends in a great hoppy and malty blend - nice.

From tap at Stone Bistro as hopped with wet Simcoe on cask. Pours pitch black with a lacing tan head. Dense fruity and hoppy aroma, clear has a lot more hops yet also perhaps too dense. Dense hoppy, bone dry yet with a mild caramel malt presence in the flavour. Fruity finish. 8-4-8-4-17=4.1
