Commercial Description:
Our Stone 11th Anniversary Black IPA uses de-husked dark malt imported from Germany and American high alpha hop varieties, including Chinook, with Simcoe and Amarillo hops combined in the dry-hop. These ingredients combine to provide this beer with complex citrus and roast flavors, neither one overwhelming the other, but both intense enough to assure a totally unique and deep flavor profile. It's not a Porter, and it's not a Stout.

Pours a dark dark brown with a lightly sticky beige head. Big grapefruit aroma, with some lighter notes of peach, pineapple and floral hops. The flavour is complex, at first it is sweet and malty, the middle is strong grapefruit, gin, and the finish, is a bit of dark unsweetend chocolate, and more grapefruit, with a touch of toffee spread throughout. There are many more flavours in there, i just can’t pin them. A top notch brew from a top notch brewery, Stone has yet to dissapoint me.

Dark IPA, huh? 22 oz. bottle from my Secret Santa. Thanks! Viscous chocolate brown piour with a medium head. Pine and citrus hop aroma. A hint of chocolate maltiness. Very fascinating taste. A big hop profile, citrus, pine, with a rich maltiness. Full body. Very nice.

A must try. After one pint this immediately became my #1 favorite beer. Everything I love about IPAs, everything I like about a stout or dark lager. Amazingly complex.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown/black with a huge gorgeous tan head that looks like a milkshake and leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus hops and sweet roasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt, light citrus hops, alcohol, and lots of sesame and wheat cracker as the beer warms. Nice and rich palate. Excellent and quite drinkable.

Bottle. Truly unique! Without reading other peoples’ ratings, yeah, it’s pretty much a combination of a dark lager and an IPA. The dark malts blend nicely with the firm hoppiness to produce something great. Dark caramel, wheat, and pine are the words of the day. Definitely not a porter or stout, this is something different. Tarrish finish that sticks with you pretty good. You don’t really taste the alcohol, but you know it is there based on it being a Stone beer.
