3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice aroma of caramel and toffee malt, ripe fruit, spices, cinnamon. The appearance is deep brown, deep tan head, like an impy stout. The flavor is a bit spicier, bread dough, rye bread, fruit. The aroma was better. Nice thick body, creamy mouthfeel. The finish is spices, cinamon, orange peel. spices start off nice and subtle in the aroma, a bit overpowering in the flavor, and over the top on the finish. Still, nice beer, nice looking, with a nice thick body.

Super spicy aroma, Christmas cloves in my face. Hmm, way too heavy on the spices in the aroma & taste. Booze at the end. Bleh.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Great looking beer, jet black with a nice tan head and decent lacing. Smell of Thanksgiving spice pumpkin pie. Was hoping the taste was there but too much spice in my opinion. Dry and thick with an aftertaste of cinnamon and allspice that overpowers. Not my thing.

Belgian Christmas ale from Stone anyone? Big body, fruity, sweet, slight roast, and a big sweet, dry finish. Good stuff, does not need to age, CONSUME!

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle sample at a Vertical Epic tasting at Mastikim. Thanks Ariel. Dark brown-colored with a beige head. Aroma of winter spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and more), malt, caramel and some vegetal notes. Sweetish flavor of malt, caramel, candi sugar, spices, a bit of alcohol and a dry finish. Medium-bodied. Really not my thing.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bomber from Spirits Brick. Poured a rather nice looking dark black body with an average sized dense frothy deep beige head. Aroma of chocolate under lots of "Christmas" spices, ginger, allspice, cloves, wet dark brown toast, old oranges hint of nutmeg. Fuller bodied with soft but apparent carbonation and a chalky milky finish that has some lingering spices. Flavor comes off a bit more spicey than the aroma, notes of ginger and clove dominate along with cinamon and allspice over bad chocolate and some old rotting citrus fruits. This would make one hell of a winter warmer, maybe I will grab that 3 liter bottle after all.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is the only Vertical Epic I’ve had, and after tasting it I regret missing all the other years. Pours jet black, tastes like pumpkin pie. This is what every pumpkin ale I’ve ever had ought to taste like. Delicious.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A thin head on a pitch black body.
The aroma is loaded with black pepper, dark fruits, molasses and caramel. Amazing.
The taste is dark... molasses sweetness, black licorice, plum and grapefruit bitterness. Quite complex with some bold flavors.
The texture is sticky with moderate carbonation and a heavier body.
It’s a sipper.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(bottle - 22 oz - Night of the Titans 2013) The final of the epics. Dark brown pour with a puffy tan head. Aroma is pretty much loaded with spices and dark fruits. Cinnamon, plum, clove and yeast. Flavor is kind of the same. Cinnamon and clove dominate the beginning of the flavor with a mild touch of yeast spice and a little chocolate malt at the end of it. Standard Christmas Ale. A bit disappointed that it was the last of a really big series.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a growler, pours a dark brown almost black color with a medium tan head that leaves pretty good lacing. Smells of cloves, allspice, plums, and belgian yeast. Tastes or clove, allspice, raisins, vanilla, plums, and Belgian yeast with a pretty good hop bite for a dark beer. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with light carbonation. Overall this was a well balanced beer that was full of flavor and one of the best I’ve had of the vertical epic series and one of the best Belgian darks I’ve had ever.
