On tap at Luckys. Pours a dark brown with a thick creamy tan head that leaves sticky lacing. The aroma is cinammon, spice, and nutmeg. Thick mouthfeel with strong spice flavor and cinammon with nice dry finish. Very good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 22oz. It’s a more or less black one, topped by a creamy, two-finger light beige head leaving lacings. The aroma is rather spiced, with cardamom, cloves and some orange peel. Roasted too, some alcohol notes blending in. It’s full-bodied, smooth and quite dry and warming on the palate, with lots of flavor. Maybe a bit too much spices maybe, especially the cloves. Cinnamon and some orange peel, as well as roasted malts and some chocolate. A touch of dried fruits too. Long, roasted and clove-ish finish. Well, it’s sure a nice one, but way too clove-tasting for my liking. A Christmas beer if you ask me. 130819

2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
On tap at the vintage, nice place. Big black pour. Nice choko moose head. Spicy aroma. Strong chocolate alky thing, more alky than chocolate. Perhaps some cinny? Difficult to enjoy, way too fresh. Bitter alky medicinal finish. I guess I’ll never really appreciate these epic things, I’ll always be a neophyte when it comes to good beer epic things.

22 oz bottle purchased at The Craft Beer Outlet in Philly on June 20, 2013. Black, a small beige head. Aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg, a little sweet. Taste dry nutmeg, slightly sour notes of licorice, spice dry bitterness. It is not epic, but the series ends well!

Bottle from GE at Logan Twp. Pours black with brown, 1 finger head, dissipating to a thin film. Smells of ginger snaps, completely dominating, some mild chocolate. Smooth raisin and chocolate flavor with ginger and anise. Pretty damn good.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottled @ craft beer co clerkenwell. Dark color, short head. Aroma is spicy all over the place, clove, cinnamon, cardamom. Very dry and spicy, only some sweetness, licorice. Im just not a fan of overly spiced beers. Too much of everything.
