COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As with any good epic, herein lies the promise of larger-than-life experiences, heroics, and twists and turns as the adventure unfolds. This bottle-conditioned ale is chapter eleven. Now is the time to enjoy it in a “vertical” tasting side by side with its ten Stone Vertical Epic Ale brethren! Each one unique to its year of release. Each with its own “twist & turn” in the plot line. Each one released one year, one month and one day from the previous year’s edition. This year’s Stone Vertical Epic Ale is the very last one. Yep, this is it. The final chapter. Or as they say on the last slide in some old films: “Fin.” No worries though: this edition is particularly well-suited for prolonging the experience, as it’s as cellarable as any in the series, or more. In this, the final edition, you can expect a perfectly balance *womp* of spices: cinnamon, ginger, allspice, sweet orange peel, clove (only a little!) and rosehips, all in the context of a dark Belgian style abbey-ish beer…but not as sweet. Dry even. Stone style. Thanks for coming on this Epic Stone-style journey with us! You can rest assured there will be new adventures to come…

Opaque dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Light spice on the nose. Viscous soft palate. Creamy dark malt, airy. Strong cinnamon and cloves. Trace of citric hop. Finishes spice bitter and dry. Hugely over spiced and hugely disappointing. A rare Stone howler! Drain pour.

Bottle, 22oz. It’s a more or less black one, topped by a creamy, two-finger light beige head leaving lacings. The aroma is rather spiced, with cardamom, cloves and some orange peel. Roasted too, some alcohol notes blending in. It’s full-bodied, smooth and quite dry and warming on the palate, with lots of flavor. Maybe a bit too much spices maybe, especially the cloves. Cinnamon and some orange peel, as well as roasted malts and some chocolate. A touch of dried fruits too. Long, roasted and clove-ish finish. Well, it’s sure a nice one, but way too clove-tasting for my liking. A Christmas beer if you ask me. 130819

Bottle at Morizuya, KinosakiOnsen - shared with Mette. Clear dark brown - white head. Holy shit a lot of spices. Cardemom. Fruity. Roasted. Ryebread. Honey sweet and spicy dark bread. Piley notes. Light phenolic. Far too spicy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brown with a creamy dark tan head. Aroma is very spicy. Ginger might be the stand out. Xmas beer. Full bodied. Flavor is very spicy indeed. Ginger and allspice stand out. Lots of flavor in this ale. Finishes quite dry, somehow, and a little ashy/earthy. Finally I get a cinnamon note. Quite the experience.
