2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
22 oz. botlle served in shaker- better late than never I guess. Poured a nontransparent black when held to a light source, darkened tan head formed with about a dozen frog eyes that bubbled and popped as the medium carbonation hit them. Aroma of nutmeg, clove, ginger, cinnamon, darkened fruit, and hype. Hits the mouth with a medium body, spices hit you from the start, which makes the malt almost unnoticeable- the malt tastes like it was smoked, middle has some more spices, finish is just spicy with a bittering undertone. More or less a Christmas cookie in the glass- you might be into that kind of thing, and that’s fine, but I’m not. Hype. Yep, a shitload of hype.

Keg at Brewdog Brum. Buttery, orange, marzipan, dried fruit (slight). A malty, dark beast. Leavened by fruit. Appropriate for the time of year. Nice. Super rich.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours opaque dark brown with a sheet of mocha foam. Smells really, really spicy. Nutmeg and allspice, cinnamon, cloves (stronger than I had anticipated), some floral notes and it all comes together to smell like tee tree oil. Tastes sweet and spiced - the aforementioned collage comes into play, the malts are charred, sweet and accented with a classical belgian yeast character. Medium to full bodied with lighter carb, the beer has a really fine feel. This is an interesting beer, I think it falls into a well done example of the style.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Strange cat... Aroma is overwhelmed with spice: nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, etc... There are undertones of burnt orange and... metal? Taste is weighted towards bitter with some light sweet/sour/salt. Palate is a low point... thick, oily, bitter, and too much clover in the nose. Fascinating brew but won’t buy again.

Bottle. Pours dark opaque amber with a thin layer of toffee colored head. Aroma of nutmeg and what definitely hints toward Old Bay or some other spice. Taste of spice, earth, and wood.

can smell the spices and high alcohol...mainly smells of dark fruit like plum...taste is very bold with dark fruits and slight spices, mostly ginger and allspice? Good taste but flavor is just a tad too bold...a bit hard to drink without a meal

Pours inky black with a moderate dark brown head. Aroma is ginerbread, cinnamon and nutmeg. Taste is boozy still, cinnamon, nutmeg and a small toasted malt. Interesting.

Bottle from Bruisin’ Ales. Pours black with a half inch of khaki foam. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Big gingerbread and cinnamon on the nose. Lots of flavor on the tongue. Hides the alcohol extremely well. Nice!
