Flavor mixes dry roasty coffee with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, black pepper, and some kind of eggy/creamy sensation that makes it reminiscent of an egg nog or an alfredo. It works really well, actually. Very good stuff.

Sample at Hopftest 2013. Comes black with a small brown head. Aroma of spice, malt, fruit, and caramel. Taste is cinnamon, cloves, roasted malt, dark fruit, yeast, and hops. Interesting. A bit too much spice for me.

A very spicy beer. Ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. Wasn't expecting much from the look of it, but was pleasantly surprised in the outcome.

Clove and orange nose...maybe some pine. Opaque black, short medium brown head. Complex spices, cinnamon, clove. Slightly chewy mouthful. Slight bitter/spice aftertaste.

Aroma: Smelling of bread, dates, clove and ginger.
Appearance: A dark black colored beer. A brown head with good lacing and good curtains.
Taste: Tasting deep of roasted malt, grape-fruit peel, strong coffee and minced pie.
Palate: Medium carbonation, a soft and oily texture. A big body with a very dry finish.
Overall: Extremely potent, a very stout beer. Many complex spices. Nearly too much ... but not in a bad way.

Clove aroma is strong, cinnamon, molasses, nutmeg. Inky black with a thin, tan like ringed head. Taste is chocolatey and spicy.

Svart öl med stort, brunt skum. Doft: Kryddnejlika och andra örter/kryddor, vört bröd, alkohol, mintlakrits, rengöringsmedel. Smak: Choklad skumbanan, pepparkaka, anis, koriander, kanel, mintlakrits, sött vörtbröd, apelsin, rödvins bål. Smaken spöar lätt doften, komplex och god.

750ml Bottle @ Earl of Essex 2013/4/17 Hints of just about every flavour I don’t enjoy in a beer - liquorice, cloves, aniseed, star anise, sour milk. Perfect carbonation and body. Very impressive. Just wish I could have enjoyed it.

Appearance: Black color with a beige head. Ok lacing
Aroma: Roasted malt and rich Christmas spicy (cinnamon).
Palate: Full body. A bit sweet and a fine bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Complex beer. Roasted malt, espresso, rich spicy (cinnamon) and a bit fruity. Well hidden alcohol.
Overall impression: A really nice and powerful ale.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Pitch black with small beige head. Aroma of nutmeg and pine. Sweet with fudge and molasses with full body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Molasses, nutmeg and cinnamon dominates completely. Heavy and powerful. Long herbal bitterness with some ink. Unbalanced.
