4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Ginger, cinnamon, clove, yeasty aromas hinting at cocoa. Flavor mixes dry roasty coffee with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, black pepper, and some kind of eggy/creamy sensation that makes it reminiscent of an egg nog or an alfredo. It works really well, actually. Very good stuff.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2014/04/15 - Pours an opaque black colour with a large, frothy, tan head that leaves tons of lacing. Aroma is prunes, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, gingerbread, all spice and mild molasses. Taste follows nose; pumpkin spices (cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg), gingerbread, clove, molasses and some mild roast and wood notes. Mouthfeel is medium to thick and oily, with lively, carbonation and a bitter/sweet drying finish. Really enjoyed this one. Has a real pumpkin stout quality to it.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not impressed with this offering from Stone. Must be said that the beer is getting pretty old now, but I saw it on the shelf at a local brew store so I had to give it a try. The pour is beautiful, beer is very dark and puts off a rich chocolate color head; leaves a decent lace. The smell smacks you in the face with an aroma of cinnamon, allspice and another spice I can’t put my finger on. The taste is what you would expect from the smell with a strong presence of cinnamon and allspice with an after-note of cloves, but the most predominate flavor is that of bitters! In my opinion this is not a good flavor for a beer. It just takes away from the fact that you are actually drinking a really well brewed beer. You concentrate on this overpowering spice pallet that leaves you forgetting that this taste is actually coming from a beer. Really complex flavor and I appreciate what they were trying to accomplish here, just not my cup of tea. Worst beer I have had from Stone. If I wanted to drink bitters I would have ordered a Prohibition style cocktail, so please, keep it out of my beer.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours almost black with a thick brown head. Aroma is of ginger bread, nutmeg, and dark roasted malts. Taste follows the nose with lots of ginger bread and pumpkin like spices. The mouth feel is medium-thick and coats well. This beer is very stout like, similar to pumpkin stouts. Overall a very good beer.

Dark brown pour. Slightly oily. The smell has a good dose of spice and yeast. My first thought was gingerbread on tasting...lots of cinnamon, anise, orange, clove taste. Pretty standard carbonation and a slick mouthfeel. Interesting and tasty.
