draft@Stone vs. Moeder: pitch-black with a dark mocha head, smells like bitter roasted malts followed by coffee & bitter chocolate, taste wise this is indeed firstly a bitter & then a chocolate stout, taste is very bitter chocolate, light oatmeal & creamy oatmeal body, roasted coffee, cocoa mixed with some hops, dry, certainly not bad

Draught at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas during the three day Stone Event, 16-18 september 2011. Pitch black opaque color, medium to dark brown head. Smell richely coffee, chocolate, caramel, bitter, burned and roasted malts. Taste very rich as well, lots of flavours, mainly coffee, chocolate and roastyness. Nice bitter finish. Nice carbo, full body.

Black pour with a big tan head. Slow to fall and tons of lacing left behind on the glass. Roasted grain aroma is predominant with some caramel, vanilla, chocolate and malt. Roasted cocoa beans is the taste I first get with a mix of dry roasted coffee and more chocolate. A bit bitter in the back, but that is mixed with a creamy smooth dryness. Excellent beer that I wish was in regular rotation.

Pours pitch blach with a thin dark mocha head...lacing is decent. Aroma has dark bakers chocolate, spicy hop notes, a hint of dark fruit, faint coffee. Flavor is more chocolatey and the aroma suggests and also less spicey...very roasty and a faint hint of dark fruit. Mouthfeel is very creamy and rich with a lingering roasty finish.

Draught at Moeder Lambic, Brussels, for the Stone beer festival. Sampled on September 16, 2011
Black color, dense brown head. Sweet, malty, licorice scent. Sweet, bitter, alcohol taste. Huge bitter aftertaste, also very dry. Smooth mouthfeel, huge bitterness.

On tap at Moeder Lambik. Dark brown with tall head. Chocolate and malt nose. Taste is sweet and also of chocolate. Great oatmeal notes too. Quite bitter in the finish. Not as strong, or overpowering, as I thought it would be.

So Iím flying off memory here. I canít believe I missed rating this one. I know it was a nice brew. Thick, creamy, definitely chocolatey. I had it several times and enjoyed it every time. Bitter chocolate is the way to go folks.

22 oz. bottle - Iím not quite sure why I didnít rate this when it first came out. Luckly, I had one bottle left from the half case I bought three years ago. Anyways... Pours a dark brown color with a half finger thick tan head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is dark esters, chocolate, and mollasses. Flavor is much of the same. The alcohol is noticeable, but not over bearing. Medium to full body. A good beer.

Had this on stone tap takeover and loved it and recently got myself a vintage bottle of this and it was amazing. Poured into a tulip, dark with a brown head with an aroma full of bitter chocolate, and burnt malt. Taste is bitter and sweet, full of chocolate and nuts, very creamy. Finishes smooth with a long aftertaste, a little bit sticky. Very nice brew one of my fav stouts.

Cask @ The Rake, London. During RBESG 11. 2008 Vintage. Pours black with a creamy beige head and lacings. Oat, ashes, roast, port, chocolate and dark fruit. Complex and tasty. Smooth and soft. Lovely.
