4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Stone 17th anniversary party. A clear one, golden in color and with a dense, off-white head. Pine cones, citrus peel and a faint touch of pale malts and alcohol. Full body, soft carbonation and some warmth. Quite bitter flavor, with a light malty background. Pine cones, citrus peel. Long, warm and bitter finish. Sure pleasant. 130816

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
I certainly expected more from this. The 16th was a welcome departure and this is just more of the same Stone. Hops and not much else. Cool name but give me Cali-Belgique over this and any other Stone IPA.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a golden orange color with a small white head. Alma is floral hops, biscuit, grass, and honey. The taste is sweet cereal and honey followed by a monstrously bitter hop after taste. The hops are actually really tasty but like with a lot of stone brews they go over the top and destroy your palate, especially as the beer warms up. The after taste is forever, like an oily scotch. The bitterness lingers and lingers. Another good double ipa from stone with an interesting hop.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured two and half fingers of head on a clear, medium straw colored body. Lots of bubbles.
The aroma is spicy with a good dose of lemon and grapefruit... and in the far background is some vanilla.
The taste goes from bluntly bitter at first to moderate lemon bitter in the middle to a pine bitter slamdunk at the end. It’s fun and enjoyable though.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Interesting! Initial aroma (for a split second) gave some sense of the Stone ’character’ to an IPA, but after that what I experienced was something different than the norm. Clear golden orange color, moderate sized head, decent lace and retention. Grassy aroma, some bread, lemon, somewhat spicy, lightly buttery. Medium to full body, moderate to high bitterness, alcohol hidden well. Clean mouthfeel, quite drinkable. As others have stated, it’s somewhat reminiscent of an imperial pilsner. Cool take on the style.

16 aug 2013, bottle. Yellow, clear, no bubbles. Nose is straw grain and faint lemon hops. Thin body and moderately fizzy. Cotton candy, grassy hops, sugary. Nice.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a crystal clear classic golden color with just a faint greenish tint. A huge off-white head with an faint orange hue forms quickly and stubbornly retains. Aromas of lemon meringue pie or the creamy citrus filling in a donut and somewhat peachy and pineapply. Wet, somewhat crisp mouthfeel. The aggressive hop character is more prominent up front. Citrus, pineapple, and sweet cream flavors emerge. Decent.

22 ounce bottle from The Beer Trappe. Pours a clean orange color. Bitter throughout. In nose and in taste. Clean taste of tropical fruit. A big ass IPA, for sure.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: Pineapple and tangerine with a subtle floral note that I cant place because I am not that knowledgable about flowers. Appearance: beautiful and clear light gold. Head retention is terrible, though, otherwise this would be a five. Taste: pineapple and dank grass give way to light notes of black pepper, soft alcohol. Palate. Crisp and not as oily as Id expect for a pretty hoppy beer.
