Generally a lover of all things Stone, I found this to be undrinkable. To my palate it tastes of phenols, bandaids, and Jägermeister.

Pours a slightly hazy orange color. Sweet malt aroma with mild hop character. Smooth hop flavor throughout, not overly bitter. Light citrusy character, earthy notes, pils malt character. Some alcohol presence. Pretty good drinking IPA overall.

Shared with my good friend Ken. Pours cloudy amber with a medium sized white head. Aroma is mainly hoppy with citrus and some malt. Good balance and medium bitter taste. Interesting IPA and overall not bad.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 30, 2013 At a tasting at KyotoLefty’s place. A mellow deep gold color with pine, citrus & mint notes in the nose. The medium-full body was bitter, complex & syrupy with nice sweetness from the malts. As I loved the 16th I was expecting a bit more, it’s good but not great. UPDATE: 9.5% bottle from Asahiya, the classic copper gold I like in an IPA. Minty, herbal, fruity aroma. Mouth-puckering bitterness with pine, resin, mint & a touch of fruitiness. Quite bitter but still good though not as great as the 16th...

A really nice Ipa with a big time hop palate. Great on the tongue and big time hops. A little bit citrusy and quality.

Very interesting. From the commercial description, its kudos to Stone for the craft that has always gone into their beers--here, trying really uncommon hops. I’ve recently noted that in some beers that have claimed to have as many as 75 ingredients that the complexity and craft is very hard to detect. In this case, I didn’t read the commercial description before drinking it, and I found this to be a moderate variation on the typical Stone Double IPA. There was the sweet edge and the more floral hops, which I thought might have been New Zealand hops. But I am still not sure that the effort that attends such beers is paid off in the nuance of flavors. Still, fine beer. Bottle.

Bomber. Slightly cloudy, gold/yellow with white head. Overall, excellent with medium body, a little thick, moderate carbonation, lighter finish for an assertive tasting beer. Bitter and strong, but balanced at the end.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
A very nice, very rough IPA. Potent in grapefruit, pine, and citrus. A bit resinous at the end.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Appearance - gold and a bit cloudy
Aroma - light grass
Mouthfeel - creamy with a kick.
Taste - different. Less IPA than would expect. Bitter aftertaste. The German hops must be milder. Used to more light and crisp but this is heavy and earthy.
Overall - decent but not really great. Has the double IPA signature but the hops are just different. Missing the crispness I want.

Bottled. Interesting noble hop nose, very grassy, orange, bread and caramel. Sweet, malty, bready, grapes, maybe muscat, crackers, interesting. A bit thick, slightly syrupy. Very fruity.
