COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our latest anniversary beer, starring an all-German cast of malt and hops, is yet one more glorious example of a Stone IPA brewed outside the box. Our brewers have brought their experiments with German hops to fruition, leaving convention behind to create this hefty IPA entirely with pilsner malts. These provide a superbly crisp mouthfeel, while a unique mix of noble and new-school hop varieties adds layers of bright, bitter flavors. Despite the daunting name, this beer isn’t designed to bring about the end of the world, but it just might destroy some of your preconceived notions of what an IPA can be.

Hops bill: Bitter-hopped with Magnum Late kettle additions: Herkules, Merkur and Opal Whirlpool: Emerald (aka Smaragd) and Strisselspalt from the Alsace region of France, which is just a stone’s throw across the Rhine from the German border. Dry-hopped with a 50/50 blend of German Hersbrucker and Sterling

Malt bill: Weyerman Pilsner Malt, Briess GoldPils Vienna

Pours clear golden orange with a decent frothy head. Aroma is butter, caramel, piney noble hops. Flavor has an initial buttery pineapple sweetness followed and balance nicely by bitter piney hops. Noble is showcased wonderfully in this one. Very drinkable, don’t notice the alcohol at all. Very nice.

Pours golden amber with a thick white foam. Hoppy aroma with a little citrus. Good hops and malt balance with a moderately bitter finish. Very good double IPA. Doesn’t strike me as unique though.

Bomber. Clear yellow pour that then clouded, plenty of carbonation and nice lingering head. Floral-piney aroma with a hint of grapefruit. Light malt is quickly overwhelmed by piney bitterness with a long floral finish. Good, but the piney bitterness tends to overpower the other flavors.

Golden ale with white head. A nice hop balance ties the high alcohol content with a underlying pilsner makes.

Tap into snifter. Golden yellow, small had of fine bubbles sticking to edge of glass, off white.intense hops nose, pine and grapefruit dominate.well balanced with a solid malt flavor up front, some middle grain, almost like a good bourbon, hops come in in the back and finishes with braving pine and a bit of residual sweetness. Well balanced for the amount of alcohol and hops

Generally a lover of all things Stone, I found this to be undrinkable. To my palate it tastes of phenols, bandaids, and Jägermeister.

Just couldn't really get into this. Piney an herbal with crisp German hops. That quality comes through and is appreciated. Middle of the taste is pure bitterness and stands out against the rest of the beer. Finish is slightly hot with a toned down bitterness. Good an well made, but what is there here besides the bitterness? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bottle - pours hazy orange gold with nice full white head, lasting. Darker citrus noted coupled with spicy yeast and decent malts in the aroma. Tastes of oranges, bitter fruit, floral biting hops at the end, and spicy notes at the finish. Medium-full bodied with lots of hops, spice and malty characteristics. Really good.

Pours golden orange with a thin white head and a light grassy aroma. Strong bitter body with a smooth mouthfeel and a slight alcohol burn at the finish. Slightly different ipa but very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ home. Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is resiny, bready, citrusy. Flavor is pine, resin, citrus, bread. Not bad.
