COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our latest anniversary beer, starring an all-German cast of malt and hops, is yet one more glorious example of a Stone IPA brewed outside the box. Our brewers have brought their experiments with German hops to fruition, leaving convention behind to create this hefty IPA entirely with pilsner malts. These provide a superbly crisp mouthfeel, while a unique mix of noble and new-school hop varieties adds layers of bright, bitter flavors. Despite the daunting name, this beer isn’t designed to bring about the end of the world, but it just might destroy some of your preconceived notions of what an IPA can be.

Hops bill: Bitter-hopped with Magnum Late kettle additions: Herkules, Merkur and Opal Whirlpool: Emerald (aka Smaragd) and Strisselspalt from the Alsace region of France, which is just a stone’s throw across the Rhine from the German border. Dry-hopped with a 50/50 blend of German Hersbrucker and Sterling

Malt bill: Weyerman Pilsner Malt, Briess GoldPils Vienna

Draft poured into a tulip. Hazy golden/amber slight white head, medium body. Very smooth with creamy mouthfeel, really good beer.

Smells like strawberries and beer. Blonde color. Tastes punchy, sour, and bitter and sweet. Is that a good thing? Nice and thick palate. Overall, a weird beer that’s easy to drink.

Month old bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a 1 finger white head. Good lacing. Not your typical American IPA. It's like a cross between an IPA and good quality pilsner. Not very bitter and has a sweet malty aftertaste. A good IPA for people who don't like the bitterness associated with American IPAs. Can't tell at all that it is almost 10%. You could chug this down on a hot day then seriously buzzed. Good beer for $5.99 a bomber. Great label as well.... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a hazy orange/yellow with soapy, filmy head. Hop profile is interesting, spicy and very dry and bitter. Not your usual stone IPA, but I’m impressed. Not just a west coast hop brewer.

Generally a lover of all things Stone, I found this to be undrinkable. To my palate it tastes of phenols, bandaids, and Jägermeister.

Draft. Pours golden yellow with small white head. Smell is very floral, earthy hops, orange peel. Taste follows with almost a old grapefruit notes, grassy, lemon notes. Tasty!

Pours a hazy orange color. Very rich flavor with German hops that aren’t noticeable. Too much malt and not enough good hop flavors. Normally I am a fan of Stone brews but this one did not hit the mark.

22 oz bottle. Pours clear copper with frothy white head. Aroma is bread, caramel, but mostly floral and citrus hops. Taste is very bitter. Texture is oily. Great IPA by stone.

Lingering off-white head on hazy golden orange. Big, bright lemon and orange rind nose. Sweet hops on the tongue with smooth bitterness. More citrus zest. Crisp, dry finish. Solid beer. Another proper Stone offering.

This one pours an ultra clear polished gold with a one finger bright white head. That pour is CLEAN. The nose is very clean and very hoppy, featuring loads of German hops. It smells like a super hopped pils. It drinks like one too. It’s light in body and drinks über crisp. The hop level is perfect. Stone did a great job showcasing German hops. I’m a German pils fan and this beer was spectacular. The 9.5% was well restrained as well. This is the best Stone Anny since the 12th. Pick it up while its fresh!
