Bottle sampled @ RBSG 05’ (Montréal) Grand Tasting
Golden color, nice head, nice lacing. Nose of cherry and clean grassy hops. The flavor is balanced, aggressive, a bit old, but I can really taste what they were going for here, one of Stone’s better IPAs. Better than the Ruination at least.

Bottle... Almost four years old...RBSG2005... Hazy orange ale with a small, khaki head. Good retention. Although the hops have probably mellowed over the past four years, there are still some wonderful notes of grapefruit, pineapple, evergreen, toffee and orange peel wafting from the glass. There’s still a decent hop bite on the palate, but the caramel malt has seized control. Full-bodied and oily with lively carbonation. Lengthy, mostly sweet, but somewhat bitter finish. Still a great brew, but I bet it was even better in it’s prime.

07.08.05 RBSG Orange-amber pour, sticky head. Nose is surprisingly ketchup-like, banana, spicey hops, some spruce. Thin body and very dry. Flavor is not at all what I hoped it would be. Must have been better a few years ago.

Nice big sample from 3-litre bottle at RBSG. Nice big pop when the magnum is opened indicates a little pressure still, that’s nice! Big orangy-solid body with a bit of visible yeast and surprisingly durable head...nose quite oxidized though reasonably pleasant, moderately malty with light dry hoppiness....body is lightly smoky, fairly full, piney and citrusy with some rustic honey....thin dry finish really shows the age. Great once I’m sure, but just OK now.

(3 litre magnum bottle) Sampled at RBSG 2005 in Montreal. Buttery nose with a ruination base. Piney hop flavour though the age is revealed - as its past its prime. Thin white head with a deep amber body.

2005 RBSG Montreal Friday Night Tasting. 3 L bottle. Hazy goldne amber colour. Caramel and fruity aroma, well melded from aging. Caramel, lightly spicy, plus a piny and grapefruit bitter finish. Medium bodied, silky mouthfeel. I’ll join the others who said they would have loved to try this fresh.

An unclear orange beer with a foamy disappearing white head. Dominating fruit aroma, notes of orange and apricot. Quite full with hoppy hints, but the hops must have mellowed out from the age. Fruity hoppy flavor, not very bitter, more fruity. Thick and full-bodied and pretty good. Would love to have tasted this fresh!

Orange, hazy, unclear. No head. Citrus aroma. Quite dusty. Sour and bitter simultaneously. The hoppy finish is still intact in spite of the age of the bottle. Good beer.

[Sampled twice 3 and 3½ years old] An unclear orange beer with a small white head. The aroma is rather hoppy with some alfa acid and oranges as well as a slight sourness. The flavor is somewhat sour - probably the age - but also malty and quite hoppy - the hops still bites the tongue though. The body is quite thick with some impression from the alcohol. Just as the 3rd and 4th anniversarys, this is clearly over its prime, but still a good brew - I’d have loved to taste it fresh.

Bottled: Golden coloured. Murky. Light brown head. Hops, herbs and light prunes in the aroma. This beer definately is a bit over the top. Grapish and hoppy flavour. The sourish notes is dominant and last into the end, where a sharp grapish bitterness finishes the beer. This might have been quite a treat, but here 4 years after the brewing is quite ordinary
