The 5th Anniversary from the Encore 20th Anniversary 22oz bottle four pack celebration pours with a clear copper body that has thin gold edges and supports a near white head. The aroma offers up floral hops, minty notes, a bit of spicy dankness, a malt note and then grapefruit and citrus zest. The taste delivers a big floral hop hit followed closely by a minty hop note and then a blend of grapefruit and spicy bitter dank hops. Toward the finish it picks up a pleasing earthy tea note that takes this to another level. A few more sips and the creamy mouth feel is noticed as well as how this is getting more malt sweetened floral hops and bitter grapefruit like after each successive sip. Solid.

Bomber poured a clear deep golden hue w/ large lasting creamy head. Moderate bready malt and floral aromas. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a bold bitter finish. Tastes are straw and lasting piney hop. Medium bodied. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Harry’s Hofbrau. Citrus nose folk mates with slight pine. Slight hazed copper-gold with full white head that fades to a dusting with large patterns down side. Flavor is mix of citrus and pine. Moderate bitterness and cloying aspects in the end. Side by side with the 10 year anniversary and this was the winner.

On draft at the brewery. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Grassy nose. Flavors of citrus and grass. Bitter finish.

650ml bottle from Ray’s in Tosa, shared with bananabi11. 8/17/2016 bottle date, so less than a month old. Perfect pour; very clear orangey copper with clingy lacing. Aroma has raw cascade hops; tangy pine, citrus and some other fruits. Taste is citrus, some pine, some caramel and some chewy resin. Medium bodied or a touch heavier. Some alcohol. The blend is very good. Finishes more bitter than bittersweet. Very tasty, not as extreme as Stone stuff will get, although easy to see a basis for Stone IPA. 14.3

Poured in a tulip. Hazy Amber orange with a nice white head and good lacing. Aroma is oranges, melon, pine, grapefruit, tropical fruit and caramel. Taste is pine resin, mango, orange, grapefruit, caramel, and juicy tropical flavors. It’s the perfect ipa 15 years ago. Juicy and semi dry. Really great beer.

22oz bottle 9/24/16 Stone Anniversary 4pk (Binny’s-Plainfield)-42° In Shaker-Pours orange with a small white head. Aroma of hops and malt. Taste of the same with citrus and more malt on the back end. This medium bodied brew is not as hoppy as their later offering but still darn tasty. Thanks for re-releasing.

22oz bomber from the stone 5/10/15/20 anniversary pack. 8/17/16 date. Appearance is hazy light orange. Aroma is floral hops, caramel. Smells like its way older than the date indicates. Taste starts with some bitterness, lots of malt. Floral and pine, stale hops. Was looking forward to picking up this set and I am not impressed with how old it is. Purchased yesterday, just started arriving at stores two days ago and it’s 5 weeks old. Stone pushes the enjoy by series but lets this ipa set sit.

Growler fill from brewery in Escondido. POURS a clear sunset-amber hue with a finger and a half of white foam. AROMA of resiny hops, pine, floral hops, grapefruit and orange, honey, and a little bit of booze (rare in Stone beers). FLAVOR of pine resin, grapefruit rind, and not a whole lot else. Really quite bitter but with some balancing semi-sweet malt slowly emerging near the end. This must have been a quite a bracing brew 15 years ago when the term "double IPA" was only coming into being, but not all that impressive these days. Reminiscent of the pine/grapefruit onslaught of American hops that I remember so strongly when I first got into craft beer about 8 years ago...I certainly appreciate the less heavy-handed and more nuanced approach these days and the "newer" hops that allow for this. Still happy for Stone to bring this back as a historical marker from before I drank craft beer. (131, 1041)

On tap. Pours a cloudy copper with a thin head and light lacing. Aroma is pine hops and light green olive. Flavor is sharp, strong hops, light fruit. Finishes very bitter. Just slightly above average overall.
