Commercial Description:
The Stone 8th Anniversary Ale is, like all previous Stone Anniversary Ales so far, an adaptation of a previous Stone Brewing Co release. This year we set out to make a “Anniversary-ized” version of Lee’s Mild, a 3.8% abv limited release beer from 1999. For this beer we used some of the same malts that we had used in the Lee’s Mild, added more hops, less water (to bring the alcohol content up), and found a tasty balance of toasty/roastyness from the malt and a subtle (by Stone standards!) hop presence. To add further complexity, oak chips were employed to round out the character and give the beer a bit of vanilla/bourbon influence from the wood.

Had a bottle of this that i recently was able to scoop on ebay for $19.99...so sometimes beer on ebay isn’t a bad thing. Actually aged pretty well and was a smooth drink. Pours a cloudy brown with a thin tan head. Sweet malty nose with some dark fruit in there also. Solid flavor with a little chocolate. Some people seemed to find hops still, but I think they are long gone. Still well done though...glad it aged well thus far.

Bottle sampled with Mad_indian. Pours brown with a small tan head. Aroma of choclate malts, caramel, toasted malts, and hops. The flavor is chocolate, toast, caramel, and a good amount of hops in the finish. Good body, very impressive brew.

Courtesy of kmweaver. Hazy amber body with a small beige head. Sweet malty nose with a moderate amount of citrus and oxidation. Taste is lightly sweet with caramel, oxidized malt, light roast and chocolate. Medium body is soft with moderate carbonation.
