Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

Clear amber-gold color with a small off-white head. The aroma and flavor were strong with citrusy hops, but also had a nice fruitiness in the background...alcohol came through a little too much. The feel was very crisp with a dry finish. I’m a little disappointed with the past two anniversary beers. When are they gonna do an imperial stout anniversary ale?

Aroma has sweet citrusy hops. Pale orange/yellow in color with a firm two finger thick white head. Flavor is all hops..from resiny pine to citrus and grapefruit rind and naught else. Incredibly bitter.

Bottle from Whole Foods, San Diego - shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy, tupalev & jerc. Bright amber with a good sized head. Both aroma and flavour have lots of sprucey hops, with enough sweet malt to back things up. This is a solid beer, but a bit simple for a special anniversary offering. Hopefully, they’ll drop something amazing for the 10th.

12/16/05: Bottle.
Aroma is fresh and loaded with hops. Body is an orange tan color with a rich head. Lacing clings to glass. Ample hop flavor with some citrus; also very fresh. Another great Stone brew.

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Jerc, Blankboy, and GregClow, courtesy of GregClow. Strong hops and malt and some alcohol in powerful and pleasing aroma. Golden orange, small white head. Light frothy mouthfeel. Strong hop taste - very pine like - lovely. Thin body. Simple, but tons of hops and I like it.

Thanks SecretSanta. Pours orangish-yelllow with a small head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is like a really hoppy IPA. Flavor is a combination of IPA with added wheat and rye. Had this on cask at Falling Rock before GABF- the start to a really good day.

Golden orange body, with a small creamy white head that fades. Fruity aroma with mild citrusy hops., muted touch of caramel. Fairly intense hops, lots of resin with a touch of grapefruit/lemon rind. Bit unbalanced, but interesting. Average palate.

Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc, tupalev - courtesy of GregClow. Poured Poured clear reddish-amber with a large lasting foamy off-white head - nice lacing. Rich fresh resiny/citrusy hops, decent woody malt backing it - so far so good. Taste follows nose, a little more muted, longish linger, on balance more bitter but the malt keeps up with the evergreen hops. Moutfeel astringent, creamy, decent body. I like it - maybe a little unbalanced, but I like it.
