COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

On tap at Winter Storm ’09. Pours a light copper color with a trim white head. Smells of bitter hops and pine. Tastes of both with an unsettling amount of spice that I had a problem placing. Decent, but not my bag.

Cellared and enjoyed November 2013: I think I saved this one a little too long. Color was orangey yellow with a mild white head. The citrusy wheat flavor is present but the carbonation was light. Good beer overall. Enjoyed one a few years ago and that one was better. May have just kept too long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy orange from the tap. Caramel and citrus bouquet tops the light grainy mouthfeel. Does not taste like wheat malt. Finish is thick and sweet.

Pours golden amber pretty hazy with a nice solid tan head. The aroma brings some citrusy wheat and malty notes. The flavor brings the same with a bit of citrus rind on the end as well.

bottle. drank it on 11/26/11, pours a orange with very little head. had a carmel type smell and citrus. I believe the beer went sour or maybe thats the way it should have been. Taste bad. I am sure this was a lot better didnt age well at all.

It has been a couple years since I have last had this so I am going off memory. Aroma is full of funky wheaty goodness. Pours a clear gold/orange with a nice lasting foam. Flavor is tart with a nice hop presence bringing it all together. One of the best wheat beers I have ever had. Made a journey to the brewery whenever I saw this on the growler list. Hope to see this brewed again.

sample at Ale Atlanta on 6/2/11 thanks to ChainGangGuy. deep orange pour with a 1 finger white head. sweet caramel nose with some light fruits inc. green apple and pineapple. light sherry notes. medium body with more light fruits - very soft and smooth. sweet. dry, sweet finish with aged malts and dark fruits. definitely past its prime, but still drinking well.

On tap at Churchkey. Pours a good looking bright tangerine color with a tiy bit of a brownish hue. Thin why’d head and some lacing. Nose brings forward some sweet caramel along with a bit of citrus rind. Taste is about he same without much sticking out. I would say this is past its prime. Feel is okay with a medium body and some carbonation to carry what flavors there are. Drinks okay, but I think this one is done. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-06-2010
