Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

IWe drank this side to side with ruination and it was dificult to tell the fdifference between the two, other than a lingering sweetness in the 9th. Golden beer. Stoney, rocked out head. beautiful beer. Very atractive. Nose is hop monster. Stone has a way of hopping things so that the bitterness is chunky and violent at the core, smooth and supple at the edges. All hops and a little bit of sugary sweetness from the wheat. Tartness as claimed in the description is not apparent yet. As it touches the tongue, sweetness is evident first. Maybe a little tart but nothing too powerful. Hops are massive. Wall of cheesy bitterness. All in all a good beer.

Bomber courtesy of StFun. Pours a very carbonated medium amber with a 2 finger off-white head and very spotty lacing. Nose is wheat and sweet fruits like apricot and peach. Taste is sweet malt and more sweet fruits upfront with some citrus in the middle. It almost tastes like a DIPA that’s lost its hop profile. Some hoppy alcohol burn in the finish. Smooth creamy mouth feel. Wish I had tried this fresh – I bet it was nice and hoppy. Still very good as is. Thanks Josh!

Bottle. Wonderful taste as old as it is. Bright orange, very fruity. Excellent hop character and very refreshing.

22 oz bottle. Aged very nice! Cloudy orange in color, very sweet like a DIPA but not as alcoholic. Lots of fruity tones.

On tap @ Stone, RBSG. Slightly hazy golden with a slight amber hue. Short-lived white head. Slight phenolic banana notes, darker Belgian malts, some citric notes. Deep wheat taste with some mild dark fruity tones. Nice texture to it. Alcohol complements well also.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy, cider color. Thin, bubbly white head that doesn’t stick around for very long. Aroma of honey, peaches, and warming alcohol. Flavor is cloyingly sweet, but not offensive. Dark fruits, raisins, pears. A bit of alchol, but not too overpowering. Finish is slightly bitter, with peppery notes.
